Truckers' Trucking Forum/Message Board - The Premiere Truck Driver Forum

Politics Do Not Pass/Pass With Care. Today's truckers are far more educated and cognizant of the issues regarding politics due to the sharp increase in talk radio, and various trucking news media sources. Talk politics. Do truckers like politicians?

KJ...

This piece is riddled with classic journalism game playing...for lack of a better term.

We were duped...We were misled...We weren't given all the information.

The people we talked to weren't experts at all...Nobody had any experience with nuclear weapons technology...We just didn't know that we weren't reporting the truth.

These type of words usually run as a retraction to a previous front page story, and are usually buried way back in the paper somewhere. Once again, journalistic game playing at its finest. Why wouldn't they run the retraction or correction to the story in the same manner that they ran the original.

These all sound really good to the reader or the viewer, but the bottom line is and will probably continue to be that journalists take shortcuts when it comes down to putting out the story.

There have been instances of Plagarism and Fabrication in the not too distant past at publications such as USA Today, The New York Times, and New Republic just to name a few. Some of the excuses these reporters give for their actions are down right laughable.

Is it any wonder that more and more people are reading not just one but many news sources today and trying to separate the "Wheat from the Chaff" You just don't know who has done his or her homework or investigating properly and who hasn't.

Personally, I'm ALWAYS suspicious of "The Highly Placed Administration Official"...whos name we can't reveal under conditions of anonymity. What that says to me is that a reporter got a juicy tidbit(true or false) that was just too good to pass up and ran with it without a backup source. Most respected publications do require a backup source, or should.

Knight Ridder made the calls, talked to people, and put the facts together...a few others did as well...the wonder of it is that their stories, if published, were buried in the paper...why...what was going on. I think this report points to some of the reasons...fear.

Many of the stories and administration sources all came from the same place...the administration..the white house...we were played like a musical instrument.

I have eyes to see what is happening, I've been around long enough, and seen enough that I really don't need to be agreed with in order to have confidence in my own ability to perceive reality. Propaganda is alive and well in America.

Thanks for your take, but I see something entirely different...or at least the things we both see, I take a different view of.

In other words, thank you for posting, but you are wrong. My view is the one and only truth there is. If PBS and Bill Moyers say it is so, then it is so.

So thank you for your opinion, now continue to believe what I tell you the truth is.

Welcome to a Liberals discussion.

I came here and posted something I thought was of value...you personally wouldn't even look at it...am I surprised, no...do I care...no...everyone has their take and their reasons...I don't expect to change anyones mind...I do think however, that having an exchange is good...I simply came to a place where without repeating myself I had nothing else to offer...what would you have me say Ronno...I'm really not one to talk just to hear myself and my take on how things are in our country is that most things, politics etc., are in fact little more than kabuki theater anymore.

You will continue to offer less than helpful or enlightening verbiage, but, you have found your niche.

Spin it as you must, it's what you do....

Your definition of "exchange" and the one that I see in the dictionary are two vastly different things.

As far as a fair "give and take" discussion, you are mostly "give" and those who try and give you any "take" are labeled with your word du jour.

I'll continue this discussion only for my amusement, you have made your position, and lack of understanding of any other position, perfectly clear.

So If I end up making fun of you, because I feel what you say is a joke, feel free to report me to the Moderators.

KJ...

I hate to be the one to burst your bubble, but propoganda has ALWAYS been alive and well in America.

The thing I pay the most attention to is the constant attack on the Second Ammendment of our Constitution. This attack has been going on since the first gun law, or should I say anti-gun law was put on the books. The usual suspects, or perpetrators of these attacks read like a "Who's Who" in modern journalism. Usually those with nothing more than an opinion that's uncommonly devoid of anything closely resembling fact.

The fact that these pieces of propoganda get me so upset is.....

These comments and opinions are carefully shrouded in the sanctuary of our First Ammendment of the Constitution. I call it "Freedom of speech without reason or acountability". Michael Moore is a PRIME example of this.

Of the 10 original Ammendments of our Constitution...The Bill Of Rights, only one, The Second Ammendment give the others TEETH. Without this, the others would be just so many words on a paper.

So, forgive me if I don't see eye to eye with you on this thing.

We're just at opposite ends of this.

End up making fun of me?....LOL You have rarely done anything else Ronno...gawd, ask me if I'm going to lose any sleep over your opinions, not going to happen. You have attacked me no matter what I've said...and like I said, it's what you do....

I don''t have a problem with your assessment, (we are on opposite sides) but don't lump me in with those that would disarm you...I think we have all bought into something that doesn't exist...at least not anymore...it's more than the 2nd amendment that's under attack...it will all be very clear, very soon...well, to some it will...the rest will be content as long as they can veg in front of the TV, preferably the biggest one they can get.

During coverage of the [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. , Moyers stated, "I think that if Kerry were to win this in a tight race, I think that there would be an effort to mount a [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. , quite frankly. I mean that the right wing is not going to accept it".

No bias there. This dude has lost whatever credibility he once had as a "journalist".
