Politics Do Not Pass/Pass With Care. Today's truckers are far more educated and cognizant of the issues regarding politics due to the sharp increase in talk radio, and various trucking news media sources. Talk politics. Do truckers like politicians?

Buying the War

Many here say we were not lied to, that Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rummy and Powell all told us the truth...

Watch this if you have the download ability or read the transcript and tell me we weren't sold this war, that this administration didn't lie.

There is very little investigative reporting anymore and in the run up to the Iraq war the media totally let us down.

Four years ago on May 1, President Bush landed on the aircraft carrier USS Lincoln wearing a flight suit and delivered a speech in front of a giant "Mission Accomplished" banner. He was hailed by media stars as a "breathtaking" example of presidential leadership in toppling Saddam Hussein. Despite profound questions over the failure to locate weapons of mass destruction and the increasing violence in Baghdad, many in the press confirmed the White House's claim that the war was won. MSNBC's Chris Matthews declared, "We're all neo-cons now;" NPR's Bob Edwards said, "The war in Iraq is essentially over;" and Fortune magazine's Jeff Birnbaum said, "It is amazing how thorough the victory in Iraq really was in the broadest context."

How did the mainstream press get it so wrong? How did the evidence disputing the existence of weapons of mass destruction and the link between Saddam Hussein to 9-11 continue to go largely unreported? "What the conservative media did was easy to fathom; they had been cheerleaders for the White House from the beginning and were simply continuing to rally the public behind the President — no questions asked.

How mainstream journalists suspended skepticism and scrutiny remains an issue of significance that the media has not satisfactorily explored," says Moyers. "How the administration marketed the war to the American people has been well covered, but critical questions remain: How and why did the press buy it, and what does it say about the role of journalists in helping the public sort out fact from propaganda?"
~~snip~~

This has been a total disaster...

I think alot of speculation about the war was based on the Bush saying, Your either with us , or your with the terrorist. (BTW KJ, I don't agree with Ronno's statement that you "are for the terrorist" And I can't believe he got away with it. Well, yes I can).
Take into account what was done to the Dixie Chicks when they obviously didn't support Bush's decision to attack Iraq without even giving us citizens solid proof of the WMD's. That set forth a huge agenda of "right wingers" to anything what-so-ever that opposed Bush and his mindset. Talk shows and News organizations all over the world just on the Patriotic bandwagon, smearing everyone in their path that rejected claims that opposed the Bush administration. As a matter of fact, it became a money maker.
Not to mention the fact, that if someone actually had hard evidence to use in their favor that we were lied to, it was deemed as a conspiracy or "just another Bush basher".
But thankfully, even after 4000 deaths, the truths about the cost of war, how much Haliburton is over charging, the amount of time this occupation has gone on, the news stories and polls about the % of iraqi's who think it's OK to kill soldiers, defections and suicides, and everything else that makes this occupation seem like a sham, the American people are just sick to death with being made to believe in the bogey man theory from Bush.

The tide is turning for them. The growing revolution in America that is in clear opposition to the republican party, or at least the NEOCONS, is changing the course of this country.
But with still, alot of misunderstanding of who will be running the country. The only ones that clearly oppose the occupation and is willing to bring "ALL" of our troops home, are standing low in the polls.
Thats funny to think, that America wants out troops home, but can't stand behind the ones who will actually guarantee the safe return of our soldiers. As in Ron Paul and Dennis Kusinich.
People who refuse to except the changes they speak of, must not really want the changes they ask for.

Thanks Hardman...I don't pay much attention to fools, and the negative opinions of those that think being a patriot means following in lock step behind these crazy buffoons in this administration, and their policies, is only confirmation that I'm on the right track.

There is a reason the Wingers have the nickname of Rethugs...they've earned it. Lowbrow, aggressive and without ethics...

If you get a chance to watch the program it is really good.

I just wonder, what makes the Right wingers stick so close to George Bush. I know most of this, before I seen it here. Except for a few things like Mr. Woosel, being so close to Perle.
You know, what color doesit need to be for the Bush supporters to understand that we were all lied? Back and white just isn't working. Is it a fear of being ridiculed or made fun of? Or can they just "Not handle the truth"?

Good work finding this KJ. It's a very powerful piece. And very detailed.

I believe that if this administration was a private corporation they would be deeply mired in a class action lawsuit right about now.

the same reason people hold on to halloween, independence day, thanksgiving

people need something to believe it, they dont know the truth, or its too hard to fathom, so they believe in myths

american superiority is a myth, but if we can round up some patriots, have them send their boys off to war, regardless of the reasons or facts, its all good, the military industrial complex gets a few bodies for cannon fodder, and they make a couple of bucks on the side

and the patriots get to rally around the flag for a few more years,,,,,,,,everybody is happy

Well, I was kinda wondering that myself.

Ronno, what are you doing up this early? And why did you not want to continue with our discussions about unions?
Surely you must have some facts to support your position. Don't you?

the fact you guys dont even understand is a sad testimony

first off, independence day is an announcement of independence, of freedom, of liberty

all the while there were slaves...............i guess no empathy there

thanksgiving, the commemoration of the decimation of the american indian......not only that, the next day they were jailed and executed.........again, no empathy there

as patrick moynihan said, there are two americas, plain and simple, and to watch a left winger and a right winger both scratch their heads over this is just more evidence to support that

two people in the box cannot think outside the box, even if you are on two opposing sides within the box
