USA Huckabee Immigration Plan Flawed

Illegals foes reject nod to Huckabee

By Jerry Seper
December 13, 2007
Minuteman co-founder James Gilchrist's endorsement of presidential candidate Mike Huckabee has spurred a backlash among illegal-immigration opponents who say the former Arkansas governor is soft on immigration enforcement.

"Mike Huckabee is pro-amnesty and favors a path to citizenship for illegal aliens currently in the U.S. that would require a lifting of current penalties," said William Gheen, whose 25,000-member Americans for Legal Immigration sent mass mailings yesterday to more than 300 pro-enforcement groups.

"Huckabee has released an immigration plan that contains the deceptive 'touch back' provision that the pushers of amnesty tried on us in Washington this year," he said. "He wants to trick the nation by having illegal aliens leave for a day to pick up new papers at an office set up across the border and then walk right back."

Mr. Gilchrist, whose Minuteman Project turned out about 800 civilian volunteers to guard the Arizona-Mexico border in April 2005, endorsed Mr. Huckabee in Iowa on Tuesday, saying he supported the former governor's immigration policies. He said Mr. Huckabee's immigration plan was most likely to halt "an invasion" of illegal aliens.

But Chris Simcox, who co-founded the Minuteman Project with Mr. Gilchrist and now heads the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, said no national Minuteman group has endorsed Mr. Huckabee, adding that only "one individual Minuteman has personally endorsed him."

"Jim Gilchrist speaks only for Jim Gilchrist. He does not speak for the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, nor is he nationally representative of most patriots in the Minuteman movement, who under no circumstances could ignore the failed record nor endorse the duplicitous plan recently rolled out by candidate Mike Huckabee," Mr. Simcox said.

His Minuteman organization totals more than 10,000 members and has chapters in all 50 states.

Bob Wright, who heads the Patriots' Border Alliance, another Minuteman splinter group, said although Mr. Gilchrist helped move the issue of illegal entry into the U.S. "to it's rightful place on the national stage," his endorsement of Mr. Huckabee "is at best disturbing."

Thumbs up

To be honest, I personally don't think any of the candidates except Tancredo and Duncan Hunter give a damn about illegal immigration. They all give it lip service, but many of their largest contributors are getting more wealthy from this cheap labor. I would like to know Gov Huckabee's ties to Tyson Chicken and a lot of other ARK companies that thrive off illegals. Romnie, Guliani, McCain all have flip flopped on this more than a catfish.

Big Duker. I was just wondering about your thoughts on Ron Pauls plan to end illegal immigration by putting our soldiers on the borders and stopping the "Birthright Citizenship". Also, deporting the 200,000 in our prison system right away. Which woudl save this county at least $50 billion. He has a good voting record on Immigration. At least to those of us who do not want illegals in this country.

So, jam, your going to vote for someone electable. No matter who they are? Just as long as they have "persona"? What would Jesus think?

Deporting 200,000 criminals is a good start. Not as good as teaching them how too skydive without parachutes. But even at $50,000 per illegal to keep them in prison that only comes up to one hundred million, not 50 billion. I have been ######## about illegals since Bushy Tail was first elected Gov. He never cared. Neither did Kay Bailey or John Cornyn. Have watched DFW turn into one giant barrio. My old high school in FTW is 78% hispanic. We never had any security guards. Coaches and principals just busted our ##### and we went back to class. Now there are 3 FTW policeman and 5 security guards there every day. And they still have gang problems on the news several times a month. Moved 20 miles West and now everyone else is following. Taxes have tripled in 10 years to pay for new schools. I consider the illegals a bigger problem than Al Qieda. They have ruined the building trades for any real craftsman. All most care about is money. Period. They will pickup and move to NC or Co for a buck more and hour. How about all the huge meat recalls? Never had those when you had union or at least Americans working the slaughter houses. Now every time you watch the news they are recalling 4 million lbs.
I just don't see Ron Paul ever getting elected. Just like Tancredo or Hunter he is not a media darling. Katie Koran would rather sit with Romney or Edwards . Maybe she thinks she will get lucky. You know she is a widow.

$7,000,000,000 is 200,000 illegals costing $35,000 per year. Thats $7 BILLION according to American multiplication.

But put this all in perspective. $7 Billion saved by deporting illegals in our prisons and jails. And According to Center for Immigration Studies, welfare for illegals cost about $3 billion.

Take away those costs, and have our (already paid) military patrolling our borders. Then you free up money for local and state police to detain and allow deportation of other illegals who are wanted by the law for crimes.
When you have deported the illegal criminals welfare suckers. Then what do you have? Nothing to be afraid of.
But, this country needs someone with a friggin plan like that and not just a bunch of double talk.
Not many of the candidates have either a good voting record on immigration or have not lied about their stance on immigration.
(AKA Romney, Huckleberry)

I graduated In Cedar Hill, and it's the same way. Security guards, policemen, Guard shacks for the parking lot, etc etc

Guess its OK to enforce some of the laws in this country, but when it comes to "ILLEGALS" we ignore the law. There is no need for immigration reform, their is a need to enforce current laws. "SEND THEM PACKIN"

Good day

I would love to see the problems of immigration fixed and the military on the border sound like a great idea. Money well spent on an American version of the Berlin wall with check points, machine gun nests, fields of toe poppers, blood thirsty dogs, and volunteers with machetes scouring the deserts in search of the scourge of Americas borders, spending some real quality time with each illegal that's caught. An easily solved problem? The majority of us don't have private landscapers, gardeners, servants, tailors, shoe shine individuals, or tire cleaners. Those luxuries fall to the wealthy who make the rules and send people to enforce the border rules. Why on earth should the wealthy want to pay more? If we elect someone who can make a difference, the actions are considered radical ,unfair or even prejudicial. Unfortunately it sounds like a big ol wooped horse that isn't gettin up any time soon.

P.S I noticed a show on A&E titled Gangland or something, where they spoke about a little known, but organized gang in California's prison that was deported. Once deported the gang grew in organization and membership in South America, and now is a real problem in America again.

My humble firecracker amongst big guns.
