Truckers' Trucking Forum/Message Board - The Premiere Truck Driver Forum

Politics Do Not Pass/Pass With Care. Today's truckers are far more educated and cognizant of the issues regarding politics due to the sharp increase in talk radio, and various trucking news media sources. Talk politics. Do truckers like politicians?

I say BS.

We do have American citizens who are willing to do whatever it takes to provide for their families...they're not given the chance because of skin color or lack of language abilities. In other words...they only speak ENGLISH.

Not long ago...mid summer last year...I was on a jobsite and was approached by a man that was looking for a job. I pointed him in the direction of our assistant superintendant for the job. Long story short...the asst. superintendant let me know that the crews wouldn't get along with him.

Reason...he was black and the Mexicans wouldn't work with blacks.

These companies are catering to the Mexicans and don't want to upset the apple cart by even considering hiring anybody else.

I was also told(by my boss...the General Superintendant) that I was not to upset the Mexicans in any way. It was them(the crews of Mexicans) that made the money for the company and everybody else was to ensure that they weren't upset in any way.

I've since moved on from that job....but the situation exists at ALL levels of construction today...at least where I live. There may be exceptions to the rule, but I haven't seen them yet.

The blind eye towards illegals is the norm when the bottom line(profit) is at stake.

Until this mindset is changed...we'll continue to have a problem in this area.
I also say BS. If a employer had to pay a Legal resident or American what the job was worth what would happen????there would be new machines or techniques created. Remember that necessity is the mother of invention. Yes Americans will do hard work, don't buy the Illegal doing jobs others don't want...its a cop out.

Red You are so right on this one. I know guys here that are extremly hard working that would do any kind of work to support their families. I have a few of them that work for me fixing up my rental properties. I wish there was more I could do for them. This garbage about the illegals doing work that americans won't is just that garbage.
