Tax Payer Screwed by the Democrats

Deal Reached on Tax Rebates for Stimulus

WASHINGTON (AP)—House Democratic and Republican leaders are looking for imminent agreement with the White House on an emergency package to jolt the economy out of its slump after negotiators on all sides made significant concessions at a late-night bargaining session.

"They're hoping to near a conclusion very soon," presidential spokeswoman Dana Perino said Thursday.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi agreed to drop increases in food stamp and unemployment benefits during the Wednesday meeting in exchange for gaining rebates of at least $300 for almost everyone earning a paycheck, including low-income earners who make too little to pay income taxes.

Bush backs larger rebates of $800-$1,600, but his plan would have left out 30 million working households who earn paychecks but don't make enough to pay income tax, according to calculations by the Urban Institute-Brookings Institution Tax Policy Center. An additional 19 million households would have received only partial rebates under Bush's initial proposal.

This really ticks me off. This is a perfect example of how the DIMocrats DON'T look out for the middle class American.

Bush was backing a $800-1600 rebate for people that PAID taxes. That's what a rebate is, right? To get back something you paid. Well I guess the DIMS want to redefine another word. So now instead of the people that deserve to get some of their money back, they think the people that didn't pay a damn thing should get some of our money back too.

leave it to the DIMS to screw the working person out of their money.

Funny what DUHbya does not tell you is, if you normally get a refund, don't expect it next year. And if your normally do not get a refund be prepared to pay more the following year. Nothing is free for Americans from DUHbya.

If you normally get a refund, you aren't withholding from your pay check correctly.

True, I have had to pay for many years. But I choose to pay than let the gooberment keep my money. So If they send me anything it will go into the account, not spent.

You got that right. Old fashioned communism. Take from those that are already getting shafted thru taxes and give to those that don't pay in any way.

$300 bux will not make a difference to any one. I for one won't be buying any thing new with $300. It'll either be spent on current debt or put away for emergency fund savings.

This is what motivates poverty. No matter how unproductive a person is the DIMS will still reward them. Now here's some lazy ### working parttime at McDonalds, living with mom and dad going to get the same rebate as someone who actually contributes to society by paying taxes. That's just not right. These people shouldn't be rewarded because they don't have the mindset to get a real job.
