Politics Do Not Pass/Pass With Care. Today's truckers are far more educated and cognizant of the issues regarding politics due to the sharp increase in talk radio, and various trucking news media sources. Talk politics. Do truckers like politicians?

Yep you're right. I prefer to refer to it as a double-edge sword, honed to a razor's edge.

1.I've read a lot of his other posts (like on union shops, insurance ,pension, political beliefs etc) and although he's definitely entitled to his opinion, it's just glaringly obvious he was raised different than me and his background experiences seem to be at polar ends to mine( WHICH IS FINE AND I"M GLAD FOR HIM,he's blessed.) and anything I said to him would either incite hateful comments or misunderstandings that would be a waste of time on both of our parts.I 'm trying to quit smoking this week and I just don't want the extra aggravation.
2. His profile say's TRUCKING INDUSTRY.Not driver. So unless he's a mechanic, body man ,truck restoration enthusiast or in a related field ,why bother arguing for fun.LOL...I've argued with enough lying truck owners, dispatchers, recruiters,"safety men" , truck salesmen, parts dealers, insurance agents or God forbid, a paccar finance man or DOT officer ( most who've never been behind the wheel) in my life that I don't want to waste another precious second of time left in my short life arguing with another one.And I mean that in the nicest possible way.Well, unless he works for paccar or DOT,then I wouldn't mean it so nice...LOL
Lying Liars, yep. Dealt with them my whole life, but if Ronno says he is in the "Trucking Industry", that has to be good enough for me, just like anyone else here (myself included) claiming to be in the "trucking industry". I haven't met any mind-readers yet, in my 53 years on this planet.

I never said YOU were the author of the "moonbat" comment. I thought I had been clear in defending myself for the use of a word to describe the liberal whacko left. Not to worry, your Alzheimer's isn't that far advanced.....yet.
Olive Branch?
As long as I don't have to carry it in my beak and land on some rickety boat full of stinking animals.

Most of my time in these political forums is spent dispelling the BLATENT LIES and INANE ALLEGATIONS that are spouted by some of the members here; particularly about Bush's DWI 37 years ago, his ALLEGED use of Cocaine, how he "lied us into war" and the wholly stupid theory that Bush was somehow responsible for 9-11. If you read back FAR ENOUGH, you will see that I have been CLEAR that I think GWB has been wrong on a lot of things....except the war.
But no one seems to care about the other stuff, they only read and remember what they want.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, roadkill, but if you'll look back.....I said: "...as evidenced by THE blind support..." not: YOUR blind support.

You ARE wrong about ANYONE "losing more personal wealth" during the past 8 years. Personal wealth has grown. The same people who were poor 25 years ago have MORE money now, at least the ones who made smart decisions for themselves, like getting an education. Those who didn't; well it surely isn't MY responsibility to support them thru higher taxes, which is surely what will happen IF/WHEN a democrat is elected to President.

This is more of that economics stuff that you admitted you don't understand. I'd like to ask you to post something in support of this to help you gain a better understanding. Start by reading all that stuff that gets in the way of you finding a credible link to support your claim. Or better yet, stay tuned for a response to Ronn's interesting, but severely flawed, tax link.

I have NOT responded to any question about the "Stimulus Package", because while I don't think it a good idea, I don't know enough about economics to form a fully informed opinion, and I am sure most of the people on this forum are just as ignorant about the total economic picture as I am. But it is foolhardy to think that the democrats would be any better fiscally and I have been clear throughout this forum that GWB (AND the democrats) are DEAD-WRONG on immigration and I have also been clear that I believe they have ALL been spending us into oblivion, it is just that I believe the democrats will do it much faster than the republicans will.

Foolhardy? Hardly. Foolhardy is posting something like this without taking even a second to google some facts. For instance, did you know that DEMOCRATIC President Bill Clinton turned the office over to GWB with a $127 billion budget surplus? And by 2005, Bush was running an annual $319 billion deficit?

How about Jimmy Carter, and the $600 billion budget he worked with during his last year of office, and Reagan's $1.2 trillion budget immediately following?

Who will spend us into oblivion faster? Google "federal budget deficit 1960-2008" for the truth.

And if you listened to what the "Right-Wing Talkers" are saying, you would hear them express their anger/frustration at their "republican" representatives as well, for just the reasons I have mentioned here.
Why do you think the Republicans lost so many seats in the Senate and Congress? Because many of them either stayed home in the 2006 elections or voted for Democrats out of frustration that their representatives sold them down the river thru one unnecessary social program after another, and one pork barrel project after another. Why do you think they stand a good chance of losing the White House? For the same reasons.

<sigh>
Could you please name just one unnecessary social program we've been "sold down the river" for?

His saving grace is he is strong on defending this country, BTW it was Clintons era that set us up for 9-11 by letting the terrorists around the world get away with what the did without repercussions.
Truth be told Edwards is probably the most balanced candidate we have but he doesn't have a snowballs chance in he** of getting elected.
People like Clinton,Kerry, and that nut Gore are going to be the downfall of this once GREAT Country.

Really?

In order to get an accurate answer to the "best of the bunch" thingy, we would have to check each candidates voting record going into that terms primaries. If you're interested, google "(name) on the issues", and see if that candidate voted in the best interest of you and your family. Only you will know the true answer.

I wonder how many here have even bothered to check their candidate's voting record for this election...

I had the "huevos" to read it, and in between dodging all the red flags sailing up, I was able to determine how the came to their flawed conclusion.

The first flag that struck me in the forehead was that it only dated back to 1986. By 1986, the damage was done. Let me explain with a little truthful history...

After the depression, FDR gave this country a strong shot in the arm by raising corporate taxes to around 50% of profits, and taxes on income over $3 million per year (in today's dollars) to 91%.

The result...

Schools, hospitals, roads, and bridges were built. The railroads were revitalized, an interstate highway system was funded, and a new generation of war veterans were educated.

Fast forward......to the late 1950s...

A young JFK opined that, if we cut taxes back to 70%, but closed all loopholes in the tax code, we actually have a tax increase. And so it was...

JFK got it done, and Americans continued to build America. Education and healthcare were affordable, and available to the most modest of households. Every billion dollars (3 days in Iraq) invested in infrastructure created 47,000 jobs. (whew!!!) People of that era could work, play, and then.....retire.

And...if you believe...we put a man on the moon...

Fast forward again......to the early 1980s...

Ronald Reagan took office and immediately cut taxes on the wealthiest of Americans from 70% to 27%. Corporate taxes were cut from 33% of total tax reciepts to 9 paltry percent. The result?

Red ink. Lots of it.

America went so far into debt, so fast, that Reagan doubled the FICA tax, then borrowed from the Social Security till.

Question: What was the cap on FICA during the Reagan Administration?

Hint: No where near "wealthy" status.

Even so, Reagan borrowed more money in 8 years than every other President of the United States before him.........COMBINED.

And so here we are...the GWB tax cuts...and little purty tax facts dreamt up by a republican think tank.

The truth about the GWB tax cuts, in short, is......

Taxes were lowered a little for everyone.

Capitol gains taxes were slashed from 38% to 15%.

The estate tax will be erased in 2010.

Show of hands please...are the capitol gains and estate tax cuts going to benefit anyone here?
