Truckers' Trucking Forum/Message Board - The Premiere Truck Driver Forum

Politics Do Not Pass/Pass With Care. Today's truckers are far more educated and cognizant of the issues regarding politics due to the sharp increase in talk radio, and various trucking news media sources. Talk politics. Do truckers like politicians?

No doubts here... Too many people believe utter silliness concerning this subject... The cure, in this case, would be a solid education in actually observed climate across the world, and any noted changes within the solar system as a whole. The earth itself, of course, is the more alluring concern.

I'm all for saving energy, but I'm not believing "Global Warming" as it's told today... I'm all for finding better energy sources, but not at the expense of using the ones we have today.

I'm good with planting trees, but not "for" any idea claiming we have too much CO2 and things(like PLANTS) are dying as an effect of that over abundance... I remember reading an article once, literally stating that CO2 is killing plants and trees... LOL... As if!

There is no doubt that we are having climate change BIG time. My oldest son lives way up there in the Canadian Arctic and the rate of melting of the Arctic is incredible. There has never been anything like it in recorded history. The natives with their oral history also agree that this loss of ice has never happened in their history. In fact if it had of they would not have survived as a people because all their food is obtained at the edge of the land bound ice pack zone which has almost ceased to exist. This fact does not however mean that cooling can not be happening elsewhere and all kinds of strange and unusual Weather seems to be happening all over the globe. I agree that people like Mr. Gore have put forward a theory that could very well be totally wrong. We have to face facts, the climate is in a state of change. What the cause is or if anything can be done about it is a different question altogether.

Just because I realize that the global warming issue is mostly bull, another fable brought out to attempt to control people, doesn't mean that I don't see a need to clean up our acts. EVerybody where I live is screaming about how the upper great lakes are shrinking due to global warming. And the water levels are down. But then they just did a study that found that dredging in Lake Erie is causing 280,000,000 gallons of water to pour into lake erie, and right on down the the seaway.

Back in 1987 the great lakes water levels were extremely high. It was theorized then that the cause was global warming..melting the icecap, which raised the rivers, which raised the lakes...

No matter what, the earth's temp will change..dinosaurs are proof of that...man's impact is being way overstated

What I think is that our temps are not the hottest mankind has dealt with in the past. Actually, we know this.

I also think that we haven't seen a full degree of drop in the past 100yrs.

And that leads me to think, it isn't "people" causing major concerns for our temps. If that's the case, we all need to stop using heaters in the winter. That should save plenty.

The idea that our lack of conservation, particularly in America(the only country really pushing the issue hardcore) is the cause... Doesn't melt the ice.

Most non far left Americans don't generalize or accept the idea that those on the far left are communists. We see them as socialists.

Until someone can legitimately conclude with facts, our globe is warming specifically because of things we do, and show how that is happening in a strongly corroborated way, I won't buy into the idea. And not sooner.

That doesn't mean that those who want to believe must have honest facts... But they could help.

There is no doubt that we are experiencing climate change. It is just the normal way the earth works. HOWEVER; there is NO evidence that MAN is causing GLOBAL WARMING (or COOLING) and to claim that CO2 is pollution or a "green-house" gas is foolhardy and goes against what was taught in basic 3rd-grade biology.

As a resident of Northern Michigan I bet you realize what I have known for many years, and would surprise the average person that the Great Lakes are not TRUE lakes, but are in fact one giant river. If you stand on either side of Mackinaw Straights, you can see the water flowing from west to east, 4 1/2 miles wide and 300 feet deep in places. I have watched the water "flow" about 1mph.
There is even more water moving south from Lake Superior into Lake Huron.
