John Edwards did not grow up poor. Maybe compared to new york standards, but not for where he was from. His father worked for the U.S. Postal service, and his mother worked in a textile plant. Those were probably 2 of the most coveted jobs in his town. So his folks weren't educated. Lots of folks from that generation weren't, yet sent their children to school. John Edwards sure isn't a good man. He ran around this country boo hooing about the children without health coverage, yet he spent his life putting doctors out of business. Of all of them, he is probably the most evil. he pretends to be this pious man, he is a worse pos than bush, clintons, mccain, obama, gore, etc. He is good though, lots of people buy his "I'm a common joe" crap.

Edwards was born June 10, 1953 to Wallace Reid Edwards and Catharine Juanita "Bobbie" Edwards (née Wade) in Seneca, South Carolina. The family moved several times during Edwards' childhood, eventually settling in Robbins, North Carolina, where his father worked as a textile mill floor worker, eventually promoted to supervisor; his mother had a roadside antique finishing business and then worked as a postal letter carrier when his father left his job.

They lived in a Mill house. I doubt that was a life of luxury.
I don't get this morbid obsession RepubLIEcans have with him being a trial lawyer. so what? He won many Legitimate lawsuits just as other lawyers have. It was his job!
Hell since Dick was the leading man at Haliburton i guess i can blame him for high gas prices...absurd!
Do you think Dick & George are poor or something? hell if the man can dish out 10 million for a house then more power to him....he earned it!

Smurf use some common sense and realize that any body that lives in a 10 million dollar house even if he earned it, DOES NOT AND IS NOT CAPABLE OF KNOWING HOW IT IS TO LIVE ON $40,000 A YR OR LESS.

Smurf, he wasn't any poorer than most the people in his town. I don't have an issue with people getting reimbursed when wronged. We suffer greatly from our pathetic state of liability. Some estimates are that 10-15% of every thing we buy. Peter angelos, big time dem supporter, got filthy rich from the asbestos lawsuit. Most of the plantiffs, got little. 15,000, for their lungs. I was part of a class action suit around 1997 against sears. Got a paper saying they had illegally changed the credit card rate on 80000 customers. In the end, Sears settled for 15,000,000. The lawyers split 12 mil, with the plantiffs getting 3 mil. I got a gift certificate for $7.00.

The association with the trial lawyers is the number 1 reason it is complete b.s. that the dems stand for the common guy.
