Politics Do Not Pass/Pass With Care. Today's truckers are far more educated and cognizant of the issues regarding politics due to the sharp increase in talk radio, and various trucking news media sources. Talk politics. Do truckers like politicians?

US gov paid for Arab TV Station Alhurra

CBS 60 mins. just reported that our government has put out a 1/2 billion dollars on a TV station called Alhurra. It is based in Virginia and is staffed by Arabic speakers. The programming is broadcast in the Middle East.

The station puts out news and programing that the Arabs don't watch. And in order to get the Arabs to watch the station they have to put programing on that is against American government policy; which they no longer do.

$500,000,000 is enough money to pay 10,000 people American citizens $50,000.00 a year.

More Madness in America.

There needs to be a shortage in an industry that can justify and sustain the need to pay 10k Americans $50k a year. What industry would that be?
Liberals want to destroy the auto industry, Al Gore himself has said he wants to put a stop to the "internal combustion engine" and the Liberals in Congress want to socialize the oil industry. Government itself doesn't have the capacity or need for that many employees at $50k per year. Government creates nothing. Where do you propose these high paying jobs come from?

Taking a stab at it, I'd say that station's purpose was to win "hearts and minds." A bit of good PR trying to prove we aren't the "Great Satan" as described by certain middle eastern countries

I'm not sure I understand what your getting at. Here's a further explanation. I just identified that the government is using 1/2 billion dollars of tax payers money to put together a TV station. An Arabic speaking station that is broadcast in the Middle East.

I just used the $50,000.00 to 10,000 people as a way to show how far $500,000,000.00 would go.

Winning hearts and minds was probably part of it. According to those interviewed our government wanted to present news and information that suited their purpose. The Arab viewers would not watch the Alhurra station. A new boss was brought on to Alhurra to get viewers. He present the news and he got viewers. Then he was told by our government not to run the news as he was presenting; which was in fact news. I don't see how a person could watch a news station that does not present the news.
Example there was an important news event going on but it was not being covered. Instead Alhurra was running a piece on how to make salmon cakes.

Nothing from this administration is surprising.

Who gives them permission to do retarded things like this. A perfect example of a government out of control and out of touch with the people.
