Yeah, and he is against the Fairness Doctrine. Not so for the Liberals.

Dick Durbin, the Fairness Doctrine, and Old-Fashioned Values

Dick Durbin — the Senate’s Majority whip — came out four-square in favor of the Fairness Doctrine today, declaring in [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. — a newspaper for Capitol Hill: “It’s time to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine” It’s the clearest statement yet from a member of the congressional leadership that there will be a [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. over the issue.
Oddly, Durbin explained his position with an appeal to old-time values: “I have this old-fashioned attitude that when Americans hear both sides of the story, they’re in a better position to make a decision.”
Unfortunately, that “old-fashioned attitude” comes with other old-fashioned ideas — such as government restrictions on what the media can and can not say.

Of course, if he really wants to be old-fashioned, he could dig up a copy of the First Amendment, adopted way back in 1791, which says “Congress shall make no law… abridging freedom of speech, or of the press.”

According to two members of the House Democrat Caucus, Reps. Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer have informed them that they will "aggressively pursue" reinstatement of the so-called Fairness Doctrine over the next six months. In January, Democrat presidential candidate Rep. Dennis Kucinich announced that he was going to pursue the Fairness Doctrine through his Government Reform subcommittee. That announcement was greeted with silence. But now, Pelosi has moved things to the front burner.

The decision to press for re-establishment of the Fairness Doctrine now seems to have developed for two reasons. "First, [Democrats] failed on the radio airwaves with Air America, no one wanted to listen," says a senior adviser to Pelosi. "Conservative radio is a huge threat and political advantage for Republicans and we have had to find a way to limit it.

Any questions?

Although I'm not as enthusiastic about the death at any cost part.... I'll provide a check for the effort... will $75 work?

I can't believe the Dems are thinking about doing this... If Obama and the democrats gain control of the government I don't think we'll recognize this country after it's all done.

I was talking in the response to the article. Your comment was nowhere near it.

As far as liberals being against it, I am sure they are and as sure there are conservatives as well.

When it comes to Rush Limbaugh, I am glad I quit listening to him in 1993. All he ever said then was the same every day. If someone wants to pay him that much, all I can think is a fool and his money are soon parted. But then again, I am entitled to that opinion.

I listen to both sides on talk radio. The gist is "They (the other side) are out to destroy America". The problem lies in the fact that a conservative such as Limbaugh has been right better than 90% of the time and the libs like Franken, Rhodes, Schultz, and Combs have been right roughly under 10%. The simple facts are that it takes all those libs to equal Rush in ratings is amazing combined with the fact that lib radio must be subsidized since it can't stand on its own merit. Anytime the lib media loses ratings, it blames it on conservatives subverting the airwaves. Yet the libs are the ones by and large who violate fairness in the first place.

You are kidding, right? The FCC isnt trying to re-instate the Fairness Doctrine. It was repealed by the FCC under Reagan. But now there are certain LIBERAL DEMOCRATS in congress who want to bring it back.
I will give you 5 guesses who is trying to bring it back and none of them are Repubs.

And who exactly do you think is backing Air America?

It's about viewership and Ad dollars.

Let's just say, SOMEONE has to have balls and stand up and if I am the only one then I am the only one...so be it. I cannot relinquish my principles of freedom.
I'll be on your side if this happens, just tell me what you need.
