In Just one year (2006 to 2007)

In Just one year (2006 to 2007)

Part 1

In just one year. Remember the election in 2006? Thought you might like to read the following:

A little over one year ago:

1) Consumer confidence stood at a 20 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.

Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:

1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $4.20 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.

America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!

Remember, it's Congress that makes law, not the President. He has to work with what's handed to him.

Quote of the Day.........'My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it.' -- Barack Obama

Part 2:

Taxes...Whether Democrat or a Republican you will find these statistics enlightening and amazing.
[LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link.

Taxes under Clinton &nb sp; Taxes under Bush 2008

Single making 30K - tax $8,400 Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K - tax $14,000 Single making 50K - tax $12,500
Single making 75K - tax $23,250 Single making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 60K - tax $16,800 Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K - tax $21,000 Married making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 125K - tax $38,750 Married making 125K - tax $31,250

The democratic candidate will return to the higher tax rates

It is amazing how many people that fall into the categories above think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever. If Obama is elected, he and his democratic controlled congress will repeal the Bush tax cuts and a good portion of the people that fall into the categories above can't wait for it to happen. This is like the movie, The Sting with Paul Newman; you scam somebody out of some money and they don't even know what happened.

PART 3:

You think the war in Iraq is costing us too much? Read this:

Boy, am I confused. I have been hammered with the propaganda that it is the Iraq war and the war on terror that is bankrupting us. I now find that to be RIDICULOUS. Whats even scarier is the folks that aren't smart enough to check their tax records and see where they stand. In stead run around all over the country blabbing on the CB about how they are getting screwed. Spouting the dimo talking points, making themselves look really really stupid. But then again that happens a lot on the CB.

I really doubt that the Democrats were elected to such a big majority.

109th Congress (2005-2007)
Majority Party: Republican (55 seats)
Minority Party: Democrat (44 seats)
Other Parties: Independent (1 seat)
Total Seats: 100
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
110th Congress (2007-2009)
Majority Party: Democrat (49 seats)
Minority Party: Republican (49 seats)
Other Parties: 1Independent; 1 Independent Democrat
Total Seats: 100
Note: Senator Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut was reelected in 2006 as an Independent, and became an Independent Democrat. Senator Bernard Sanders of Vermont was elected as an Independent.

If you really want to look at the illegal alien issue, remember that both parties have responsibility here. It goes back to 1986 and the failures since. Also read the years in your quotes.

The numbers may be balanced, but the Congress is in Democratic control - the speaker is a dem - hello!

I am not denying that fact.

The speaker has no power over how a republican votes. Get real.

The only way they will ever accomplish anything is to work together.

You can take an entire congress of just republicans and they will still not be able to accomplish everything. The same can be said of a democrat.

You fail to realize that I spent most of my life and still am shown as a registered republican. I now vote independent and do not support any one party.

the speaker may not have any power over the republican votes, but she does have power over what gets voted on, why do you think there hasn"t been a vote on among other things lifting the moratorium on drilling

Personally, the moratorium has been a thorn since orginally signed by a Bush. What is a few more weeks or months to resolve a problem?

Will she do it, who knows. I hold no breath for anything intelligent or practical to come from Washington.

Besides, any politician of any quality, would not be influenced by the stand or position of a speaker of the house.

Back in the day of Zell Miller I probably would have voted for him and his kind of Dem.

Pelosi is the worst enemy the democrats have, her manipulating and scheming ways are hurting even more than Obamas ability to speak from both sides of his mouth.

her refusal to put matters to a up and down vote is purely self serving and an attempt to make it look like its the republicans fault not the democrats and that is what is what is hurting this country, not the republicans of the democrats for that matter.

the drilling legislation is a shining example because she knows that it is going to pass with flying colors and in a bipartisan way so instead of putting it to a vote and since it would make obama look bad she instead, is willing to put this country at risk purely for political reasons.

I have said it before, the democrats defeat themselves every time and consistently pull a defeat from the jaws of victory.

Me? I am a long time democrat that prays every election that the party will put someone in the running that I can believe in and then run an honest campaign, but they just don't get it, I am completely turned off by the manipulation and smear campaigns they consistently run,when are they going to figure out that the American people just want honesty and a candidate that will stand firm on his/her convictions, and quit changing their policy based on the latest weekly poll.
