Politics Do Not Pass/Pass With Care. Today's truckers are far more educated and cognizant of the issues regarding politics due to the sharp increase in talk radio, and various trucking news media sources. Talk politics. Do truckers like politicians?

Thumbs down Bailout: Vote ALL Out Who Vote For This!

Ok, I have contacted my Senators and Representatives about this BS bailout. I told them, they vote to bailout those morons in Wall Street, I will make SURE I vote against them. These are the people, from Tennessee, that I will vote against IF they vote for the $700 BILLION dollar bailout:
  • Sen. Lamar Alexander
  • Sen. Bob Corker
  • Rep. John Tanner (vote FOR, I will vote him OUT!!!)
When this vote is taken, I will post, in here, who voted for it and against it so you all can do the same thing. It is HIGH time we hold these people to account who decide to rob us! Contact Your Senators Here!

You need to realize what the consequences of doing nothing would be.

Spend $700 billion now or pay later.

I don't know if it will do any good, but I contacted my senators and representatives and voiced my opinion.

There are other, cheaper, options that will save the economy, yet let the business fail if it indeed needs to fail. I'm a business owner and NOONE will come save me and my business if I manage it poorly.

We talk about the rich getting richer and just stomping on the poor, then the general population wants to vote the rich a bailout?????

A relatively new accounting rule that changed the time-frame on mark-to-market accounting being changed back and the government extending FHA (federal housing authority) insurance to these loans would end up costing around $40B instead of $700B and would let the companies fail that need to fail and would not let the economy fail.

Oh, I realize the consequences...and I think we are far overdue on our bill to the "piper." Sooner or later he will be paid...this is just a joke and a political stunt. Think of our financial system as a World Trade Center sized building built upon sand...then, of course, this building is shifting and what do we do? Throw a couple of shovels full of sand under it?

What I mean is, it is going to come down either way! Simply put, let it come down and then let us build it back RIGHT.

That does nothing to ease the freeze on credit, which is the main problem.

Does make a person wonder if any good does come out of this. Do they even read our emails?

I sent them off one anyway. Guess it doesn't hurt to try.

Changing the mark-to-market accounting rules back to what they were (or something in between what they are and what they were a couple of years ago) lets the companies holding sub-prime mortgages sell them because it will unfreeze the bond market.

Also, insuring the loans will relieve the pressure of a large company actually failing. You CANNOT let people misbehave and reward their misbehavior. Even if it's tough to take the consequences, you still have to let the consequences happen.
