Truckers' Trucking Forum/Message Board - The Premiere Truck Driver Forum

Politics Do Not Pass/Pass With Care. Today's truckers are far more educated and cognizant of the issues regarding politics due to the sharp increase in talk radio, and various trucking news media sources. Talk politics. Do truckers like politicians?

Who would you pick to replace Biden...

...if you were Barack Obama? Let's say you want to win and simultaneously pick a liberal that you believe would do well should something happen to you. Who would that person be and why?

I'd probably go with Bill Richardson. He's a strong man and a good man, and I believe that he would balance out the ticket while also gaining Obama support from the Latino vote. He also has plenty of experience, though he came off as a bit cavalier in the debates. Obama needs strength in the Southwest.

Who would you go with and why?

Why Hillary Clinton, of course!
Tough, hard bitten, experienced in the inner workings of the White House, annnndddd- She has direct access to possibly the best adviser on the planet- William Jefferson Clinton!

Richardson, too bad he wasn't liked by people enough to be the nominee. I don't think he would help the ticket anymore, now.

Barry chose badly with Biden, he might win and he might not, but remembering Eagleton in 72 tells me that getting rid of Biden won't help his credibility.

So , are you saying Obama is likely to lose with Biden on the ticket ? I suspect Republicans are holding off on much criticism of Biden because they don't want him replaced . Watch what happens close to the election . Biden said he wouldn't be "Swift boated" . Of course not . He made sure he never got on a boat . But I agree Richardson would be a good choice , certainly not Romney .

I'm choking on my coffee as I type this, trying to get my fingers to do it, but okay Rex, I have to agree with you on this one (except for Bill being the "best adviser on the planet" - good God!!!). If I put my complete and total personal hatred of all things Clinton aside for a moment and think of what is best for the country I have to say that right now Hillary would be the best choice for VP and actually for the Dem candidate as well. Of all the Dem candidates we have been presented with this year she was the most ready, not because of her personal experience but because of her experiences while Bill was President and the fact that if that 2 am call came she could just get Bill to help her (if she could find him at 2 am that is - I doubt she would find him in HER bed). Okay I slipped back into the hatred thing for a second there.

Seriously though, I wish she were the Dem candidate instead of Obama, and it takes a lot for me to say that knowing that she would likely become the President then. I don't think Obama is ready, I don't think he is capable. She is at least both, and the Clintons are a "known evil" in all of this mess. I know what to expect from them, I understand their agenda. Their personal ambition and political maneuverings keeps their actions in check. I don't have a clue what to expect from Obama, and I not only don't understand his agenda, I don't know yet what it is. I don't get the sense that it is just personal ambition, and that is what I find so unsettling about him.

Doesn't the 22nd Amendment prevent Hillary from running in the first place? ("we are the President, ca. 1992)
