| For a state that has voted Republican in every presidential race since the early 70's, this is MAJOR news! This is a MUST win state for McCain with 15 electoral votes up for grabs. If he losses North Carolina it's all over for McCain. Obama takes lead, Hagan expands it in NC Raleigh, N.C. – With concern about the economy even higher than it was the week before, Barack Obama has taken a small lead in North Carolina, the newest survey from Public Policy Polling finds. Obama leads John McCain 47-45. Last week the two were tied. In the previous survey the economic polled as the biggest issue for 58% of North Carolinians, a new record. This week that figure increased to 64%. Obama has a 55-38 advantage with voters who name the economy as their top concern. The financial crisis is having a similar effect in the state’s US Senate race. Kay Hagan is now out to her biggest lead yet at 46-38. She led by 5 a week ago. “Things are getting out of control for Republicans in North Carolina pretty fast,” said Dean Debnam, President of Public Policy Polling. “They have to somehow shift the conversation back to the issues that voters trust them more on, because if this continues to be an election about the economy Democrats are going to win.”

| Make no mistake. this is very bad news for McCain. NO republican has ever had to spend money here to get votes. N.C. and Virginia is ALWAYS in the safe column for repubs. Bush won the state by 13 points over Kerry. Now McCain is being forced to spend money here AND in Virginia.

| Obama has been running ads here a lot lately. The problem here is that almost every day a plant is closing or downsizing. This makes the republicans who work in these places mad, for they blame the republican leaders for not doing anything about NAFTA, CAFTA, and Asian imports, which are causing these closings. Ther republicans here really feel they have been shafted by their leaders. The only reason Obama is not leading by more is that most republicans are scared of him because of his radical friends. If Hillary had won the ticket I feel she would have taken this state by a landslide. You also have to remember the largest employer in this state by far is the various government agecies, which by a huge majority are democrat. They are the only people who still feel they are safely employed, and would like to stay that way, so, they vote democratic. Over the last week in just the surrounding counties over 1000 jobs have been, or are being lost. All were textile and furniture, which is now being made elsewhere, thanks to the above mentioned agreements. So, to summarize, the republicans are out of work and mad, the democrats want to keep their state and county jobs and stay in power. |

The reason for the major shift is simple. the triad area here where i live has had lots of northern people move here in the last 4 years. that and the fact the Repubs just make it so esy here.

I don't really remember too much happening the first 6 years of the current administration when the repubs controlled everything. |
