Truckers' Trucking Forum/Message Board - The Premiere Truck Driver Forum

Politics Do Not Pass/Pass With Care. Today's truckers are far more educated and cognizant of the issues regarding politics due to the sharp increase in talk radio, and various trucking news media sources. Talk politics. Do truckers like politicians?

I would say there's a very good chance that it wasn't a McCain supporter trying to pin the blame on someone else. Just really doesn't fit the Republican MO.

Although if Obama wins it may bring about the "Laker Effect" and they'll riot for spite.

Either way, I wouldn't want to be on the streets of L.A. the next day.

Ron, that's one of the things that is really worrying me about these elections - the potential for things to get really stupid.

I was speaking to a sherriff's deputy the other day (because a neighborhood business had an anti Obama sign stolen and a bunch of Obama/Biden signs put up) and he said that they were going to 12 hour shifts and bringing on extra officers for the week prior to and the week of the election.

People are not allowing others to have their freedom of speech if it means someone is speaking AGAINST Obama. While I didn't like the sign he had up and thought it was potentially offensive on several levels, that doesn't mean he shouldn't have it up if that is how he feels. I would never put one of those in our yard, but still - it's his right. Even though it is a small business, it's still created quite an uproar.

I don't believe our constitution grants us the right to be free from being offended.

While I am hoping it is much ado about nothing like the Y2K crap was, it's still something to be concerned about unless you're just completely oblivious. Living in greater Cincinnati, where it's not so long ago that they had race riots, I honestly wonder what will happen on that day, whichever way it goes.

Unfortunately, the whole area I live in is pretty evenly divided between McCain and Obama supporters, and because of some fairly recent government intervention within the past year or two, we have everything from million dollar homes to section 8 housing within a mile of our house. There is a major potential for mass chaos.

This election, I've said before, just has an ominous feel to it, like I should be hearing some scary music. Halloween is the perfect backdrop for this election "season". LOL

Ain't that the truth, you can put an anvil in a room full of Joes. Come back an hour later and the thing will be busted into pieces. Mine are experts in this field

Personally im going to stock up on rounds today. Just think if the guy who got pulled out of the bronco and was beaten had a handgun the problem would have been solved before they got close enough to do him any harm.
