| Like others have said; Flying the Flag upside down is a sign of distress. With the incoming President, this country is most definitely in distress. The fact that so many voted him in is a clear indication of how far away the inhabitants of the United States have moved away from what this country used to stand for and they are trying their level best to move us to a land of debauchery and deviant behavior. It's going to be a long, arduous fight, but we have it to do if we want our country back. Rationalist, I'm not surprised at all that you would equate burning the Flag to flying her upside down. The patients are now running the asylum.

| Being that you're not the type of individual that might burn a flag in protest, I'm afraid you're not qualified to make such a statement about intent. Burning a flag, in most circumstances, isn't about disrespect, it's about dissent. Dissent isn't disloyalty, it's about attempting to make necessary corrections to keep the country on track. When conservatives fought against the New Deal, they did so because they believed that the New Deal was a bad idea and was bad for the country. Whether or not they were right, they were free, based in the First Amendment, to dissent. Dissent is at the core of freedom of speech. It's only a cry for help when one is in physical danger. Otherwise, it's a form of protest, just like burning a flag. You're protesting the election of President Obama. And there's nothing wrong with that. If you feel strongly about something, if your heart tells you that this is wrong for the country, please dissent. That's what makes America great.
