Politics Do Not Pass/Pass With Care. Today's truckers are far more educated and cognizant of the issues regarding politics due to the sharp increase in talk radio, and various trucking news media sources. Talk politics. Do truckers like politicians?

If I Hear Our Idiot-In-Chief Say This Again, I'm Going Postal!

"The days of ... are over"

That's really getting to be a favorite line for him, isn't it? What other days are over?

The days of me keeping campaign promises are over.

The days of cabinet appointees who pay taxes and aren't corrupt are over.
The days you could buy bread without a wheelbarrow of cash are over.
The days of having a retirement account are over.
The days of gas costing less than five dollars a gallon are over.
The days of America being feared and respected are over.
The days of terrorists running in fear are over.
The days of people mocking Marx and Keynes are over.

Oh Mooney you are so right.......We shall all be singing soon ...."those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end, we'd sing and dance forever and a day. We'd live the life we choose, we fight and never lose for we were young and sure to have our way"........ah yes but the musical lyrics sang by Mary Hopkins have become just that.....a song about the good times from days gone by......yes Mooney "those were the days of"

I'm pretty tired of the "I inherited" speech. Does this mean I have to campaign to get my inheritance?

I am really getting tired of the "next big crisis that we must deal with immediately.........we cannot delay"
He said that again just this morning about the national health care system at which he wants to throw billions of dollars at. He goes from crisis to crisis telling us we must deal with it immediately and that works right into his game plan. Hurry, hurry, hurry, dont look at the details...........just pass this spending bill.
His foot is in the door for a socialist national health care system and he is going to use "this latest crisis" to push for it.

I feel like a mushroom... at least from the stand point of how the White House looks at us... We are to stupid to understand what we need to do... Oh how I long for the days gone by... Hurry Hurry don't worry about the details, you can not fully understand them anyway! We know how to best lead you to socialism, why ya all just sit back and relax, put your feet up and drink some more of the Kool-aid... Thanks but no Thanks, I opt for the water that is not tainted!

Many festering sores of our economy/ government happen to be surfacing at the same time.
Not the President's fault- not the previous President's fault (except Iraq) either.
Not the Democrat's fault- and not the Republican's fault either.
Not Wall Streets fault- but not Main Street's fault either.

I think it is simply a case of unfettered large scale capitalism running itself into the ground.

Capitalism has problems- Socialism has worse problems. Maybe time for something new; something as yet unthought of...

"Whats good for GM is good for America, and whats good for America is good for GM"
But GM is probably going to declare bankruptcy in less than a month; Now what?

Advertising slogans are only good if you are running for President, as in "Yes We Can".

Thank you for your usual witty and thoughtful response...

However, far from being an "advertising slogan" the quote was an alleged statement made by then GM president Charles E. Wilson in response to a question by Senator Robert Hendrickson R-NJ during a closed senate hearing on January 15, 1953.

Glad I was able to clear this up for you.

I'm aware of where the quote came from. The head of a company telling me that his business is a barometer of the Country is not really someone I would listen very closely to.

GM is irrelevant, and has been for decades. Their stock price is a reflection of their poor business model, not of our economy.

Nope. If it were truly unfettered capitalism then AIG, Freddie, Fannie, likely GM, Citibank and a host of others would be mere memories. The current mess has as much to do with improper government "fettering" as anything else.

A strong regulatory environment is not neccessarily anti-capitalism either ... there has to be balance.

I think a big problem is newly-minted whiz-kids that think they have to "improve" on what worked for decades in order to justify their existance.
