Politics Do Not Pass/Pass With Care. Today's truckers are far more educated and cognizant of the issues regarding politics due to the sharp increase in talk radio, and various trucking news media sources. Talk politics. Do truckers like politicians?

Students Required To Stand During Pledge

Quote:
OCALA, Fla. -- Marion County students will be required to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance, a decision announced after district officials decided against altering guidelines listed in the student code of conduct.

Superintendent of Schools Jim Yancey said wording that required students to stand during the pledge will be restored to the code. Dozens of veterans attended a school board meeting on Tuesday to protest the proposed change.

The board will vote on the student code -- with the restored Pledge of Allegiance guidelines -- in May.

Yancey said he would hold an additional meeting on Monday afternoon to discuss the matter.

I don't see the big deal. They do live here afterall. It's not like there are any rights being violated. Some parents will complain because the Jehovah's Witnesses don't have to stand though, since their religion is against allegiance to anything but God.

I had to stand and recite the Pledge when I was in school and I am proud for doing it and would still do it to this day.

I was raised by parents who are Jehovah's Witnesses. If I had not stood during the Pledge of Allegiance, my mother would have had my hide! To do otherwise is sheer DISRESPECT! Likewise, my mother would NOT allow my brother to fly a worn flag after 9/11. She made him purchase a new one, and put the (VERY) old when in a proper case.

Standing up for the pledge of allegiance should not be shameful. I did it, my kids did it, and you are just showing respect for the flag and your country.. But there are people here from other countries, one guy on another forum goes my the name Gintras, he is from Russian, hates this country with a passion, but the loves the freedom he other wise would not have gotten at home..

I choose to stand for the pledge out of pride for my country.. If others don't want to stand, screw'em.. Why make them fake patiotism?

If they don't want to stand, fine.. Send them into the hallway to scrub the sidewalk..

Funny looking building that has sidewalks for hallways.
