Politics Do Not Pass/Pass With Care. Today's truckers are far more educated and cognizant of the issues regarding politics due to the sharp increase in talk radio, and various trucking news media sources. Talk politics. Do truckers like politicians?

I bet they only asked her if she had gas money to get back across the border.

Yes, I have. I was trying to drive across in 1999 and they didn't like the way I answered I guess, so they pulled me in for detailed questioning. They asked about a million questions, including financial ones. I had to show my rental car agreement and proof of insurance.

And did you eventually pass through?

What sort of financial questions besides those pertaining to your vehicle?

To tell the truth, I don't remember them all. I was asked details about my employer and e mployment. They asked a lot of questions about my destination and length of stay, where I lived, was I a renter or homeowner, and stuff like that. I was eventually allowed in, but my husband was not so we turned around. The other couple of times that I have been to Canada, I just went straight through without any major questions, including after 9/11.

Obama's border questionnaire:

Are you or have ever been a member of al Qaida?
(If so, please answer yes and turn this questionnaire in and welcome to the United States).......

Are you an illegal alien? (If so, please answer yes and turn this questionnaire in and Bienvenido a los Estados Unidos de Mexico)

Do you support heroes like William Ayers?

Do you despise those evil men and women (American troops) hurting our friends (al Qaida, Taliban) in the Iraq and Afghanistan; and in GITMO???

If so...welcome to the CIA...pull up a chair and get to work...after you have your break of course.....

My Dad and I have crossed into Canada atleast once a year for the last 18 years...at the 1,000 Islands...and we have never been asked about our financial or employment status. We were also detained once about 3 years ago, and were never asked then. They just ran out I.D and checked out my pickup and sent us on our way. We even crossed 4 days after 9/11 and never had a problem. Going back up in September.

When I was a kid still at home our family made a driving trip to canada. At the northbound border my dad was asked how much coin he had and what his trip itinerary was. I remember very plainly the agent asking.

So yes it does happen, and no that story "probably isn't bull".

I've flown in and haven't been asked that question at customs.

I agree. I work hard and can't afford a vacation.

I have just a sneaking suspicion that this woman was asked a question about financial responsibility- i.e. asked for proof of her auto insurance, which no doubt, being on welfare, she couldn't produce; whereupon the man may have commented that if she couldn't afford automobile liability insurance she couldn't afford to drive in Canada.

just guessing here...

You mean just giving an opinion right?

Canada can deny entry for whatever reason they choose, something the U.S. might actually consider.
