In the Constitution, the meaning of "Welfare", meant the well-being of the individual.

That is MY interpretation, any way.

If having one of "their own" as our President is not enough reperations then I'm at a loss for what could be enuff.

Can't agree more on the term african american being offensive, I'm friends with a true african american & he is white but was born in africa. If they were born here they are blakc no if's and's or buts about it.

On a lighter note. If this old world last long enough all this will be a mute point anyhow. They are well on their way to breeding themselves out of existence, in this country at least.

My whole point was/is, slavery was an atrocity that this country will have to live with....but GENERATIONS LATER, the ancestors of the original victims should NOT receive monies they think they are owed, simply by virtue of them being "African-American".
Which, BTW, I find that term offensive. If you are BORN here, you are(or should be) FIRST, an AMERICAN!

I am not German/Polish-American....I am, simply, an American, of German and Polish descent, and whatever other mix is in my heritage (of which there is quite a bit of NATIVE AMERICAN.)

Reparations to people for things that happened of which I had no control? ABSOLUTELY NOT.
A blanket apology to the descendants, in the name of my forefathers? Yes

Again, this is ONLY my opinion.
I'm not asking anyone to agree/disagree.
Approve of my thoughts/feeling, or disapprove.
I am merely stating my opinion.

Thank you.

Oh for pity's sake.

The word welfare began being used in reference to the improvement of disadvantaged social groups in 1903. So obviously that meaning is NOT what they had in mind during the writing of our nation's historical documents.

Obviously, they used the term in its use at the time to mean "the state of doing well especially in respect to good fortune, happiness, well-being, or prosperity". That meaning was the use during the 18th century and had been the meaning since the 14th century.

Of course I wouldn't want history, definitions, proper word use, truth and freaking COMMON SENSE to interfere with Con.Dem.'s posts and goals.

The Constitution is NOT a "living document" it is an "inert object" with symbols placed on it we understand as "english" with clear and specific rules for THE GOV'T to abide by in the execution of their job of "protect, defend and preserve" our UNalienable RIGHT(S) to "Life,Liberty and the PURSUIT of Happiness".

Citizens from ALL walks of life need to be better informed on

"WORDS MEAN THINGS"...crass? arrogant?....no, factual.

Nana, how dare you invoke such nonsense. Obviously you either Love this Country way too much or your indoctrination has failed you completely. Common sense (freakin or otherwise) is NOT a "common virtue" as can be witnessed daily. Therefore "it" lacks "equality" which makes you selfish and greedy. So "typical" of a "patriotic AMERICAN....shame,shame.

Fine......but it's still not a guarantee, nor a responsibility.....

If you're too lazy too work...you shouldn't eat period....

What happened to the "Work-reward" system?

Oh, that's right....the Social engineers changed that to
The few work, get taxed at a higher rate to support those who don't.....or rather WON'T!!!
