God help the Iraqis, Sheriff Joe is coming to help.

Haven't they suffered enough?

As Iraqis celebrate what they are calling National Sovereignty Day, they get sucker punched like this.

But remember, Iraq, although under the hand of a despot, was a relatively stable nation before the United States invaded and overthrew the government.

It is fairly stable right now as well........unless Washington gets in the way.

If by "stable" you mean living in fear and mysteriously losing family members, then yes, it was stable.

Nobody knows how many Iraqis were killed under Saddam, but make no mistake, Iraqis died for arbitrary reasons. Any Shi’ite could be executed after being accused of membership in the Islamic Da’wa Party. Plenty of Kurds were executed just because of their ethnicity during Anfal, no other reason.

Your kidding right? Sure it was stable, under Saddams control. If you step out of line you were shot or tortured. He also killed thousands of his own people.. The middle east will always be unstable and have large numbers of death whether the US steps in or doesn't

Give a guy a fact or two that supports his politics, and he'll manufacture all the evidence he needs to support his favorite theories. In an effort to prove himself right, and the other wrong; regardless of the facts of the past and the future, vainly opining well beyond his limited grasp of the subject reality.

The humility of knowing one's own relative ignorance is a hard pill to swallow.

Politics are a comfortable home for arrogant, ignorant, and unsubstantiated opinion.

I need to stay the HELL out of the Politics forum.. LOL
