Truckers' Trucking Forum/Message Board - The Premiere Truck Driver Forum

Politics Do Not Pass/Pass With Care. Today's truckers are far more educated and cognizant of the issues regarding politics due to the sharp increase in talk radio, and various trucking news media sources. Talk politics. Do truckers like politicians?

well it was funny until you spoiled it by correcting yourself... hehe

my ma, the devout christian has two things to say about the earth being older than 6000 years.

1) god made the earth with the dinosaur bones (fosils) already there.

2) a) that part in the bible where it was dark for three days... astronomers have checked and the stars are off by three days from where they should be...

while explaining the finer points of the stars couldn't be measured and shown to be three days off unless you had a before time stamped photo to calculate where they should be at some point in the future and then later took a second measurement and found out it didn't match the initial calculation...

2) b) she interupted and said but we know they are three days off because the bible says so... so all we have to do is look at where they are today and we know that they should already be three days advanced from where we see them now... since they aren't this proves it is all true.

my mom's a good person and she's the one person I don't argue with... we talk about baseball instead of religion or politics...

A three day deviation in stars is nigh impossible to measure, even with the superpowerful computers at our disposal. We're not even sure the exact positions of our closest neighbors. Even in the single digits, a light-year is a vast distance, and the closest star is around 4 light-years from us. Doppler shifts, gravity itself, and supermassive black holes all cause light to deviate from its path in ways we're not exactly sure of. Not to mention that what we see is no longer what is there. When we look at the sun, it's already 8 minutes in the future. How much more for stars that are thousands of light-years away from us? Determining their exact location is like trying to snipe a marble on the moon from planet Earth.

God created the planet with dinosaur bones already in it. That's good! Ha ha ha! So I guess coal and diamonds were already formed as well.
