Politics Do Not Pass/Pass With Care. Today's truckers are far more educated and cognizant of the issues regarding politics due to the sharp increase in talk radio, and various trucking news media sources. Talk politics. Do truckers like politicians?

Senate climate bill drops ‘cap and trade’ term

Senate climate bill drops ‘cap and trade’ term

Quote:

The idea to remake "cap and trade" into "pollution reduction and investment" came from Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., author of the bill unveiled Wednesday. He came up with it about a month ago to refocus attention on what the bill would do, not how it goes about doing it. (AP photo)

WASHINGTON — Senate Democrats tried out a new catch phrase Wednesday to sell their global warming bill: pollution reduction and investment, or PRI.

But it’s just another name for cap and trade, a term derided by Republican critics as “cap and tax” because it will increase energy prices and which Democratic polls have shown faring poorly with voters.

The rebranding is an indication of the uphill battle the climate bill — which would cap greenhouse gases and also allow industries to buy emission allowances — faces in the Senate.

A number of Democratic senators, currently entangled in the heated health care debate, said they continued to have trouble with key elements of the climate legislation. Several said it would be a huge challenge — perhaps impossible — to try to get a climate bill passed this year.

I wrote my Senator, Dick Durbin and spelled out how this cap and tax bill would destroy our economy...

Average a million jobs lost a year
Average family of four's electric bill could increase by up to 1800 dollars annually.
Could increase the cost of gas and diesel by up to 75 cents a gallon.

He ignored my arguements and proceeded to tell me how it would create "green" jobs... that's their favorite line now.

Basicaly, from the start of the cap and trade BS, the democrats wanted to force the American public to eat a stinking dog turd, but have since decided to offer that same legislation redefined as a strawberry flavored lolipop.

Special place in hell for these non representing represenatives.......

Dick Durbin and Roalnd Burris might be in trouble NExt year if the Polls I am watching are Correct. Of course this does not figure in the DEAD VOTE in CHICAGO. IIRC the poll was LIKLEY LIVE VOTERS IN IL OUTSIDE OF COOK COUNTY.

The liberal media has the IL citizenry believing that Schvitcago can out vote the whole downstate population. Don't even bother to go vote, it won't do any good. Maybe not this time. Here's to "Hope 'N Change".
