Memorial day in part celebrates the victory over the Japanese people.....The two bombings are genocides....

Thanksgiving celebrates the testament of survival for Christians....Jews, Muslims, Hindu, Urdu, Buddhists, Sikh, Taoists, Hare Krishna, and Atheists feel left out.....

Same with Christmas as well.....totality unintegrated and Politically Incorrect....

And Father's Day probably infuriates a huge segment of populations in this country that have a high atavism of illegitimate births.....

You may want to check up on the true history of American holidays as long as you've got the books cracked (especially Thanksgiving)

Followed some of the links in the first post. Learned a lot.
Columbus was a #######, but so were all the explorers and European leaders.
Those were different times, and some things that were acceptable then, are no longer.
Does that make it wrong?
By todays standards yes.
By common standards in the 15th century, it was the way of the world.

From what I read, he discovered everything except American, as I learned as a young lad..He also turned out to be big on slavery, and spreading disease around the world.. To me that is nothing to celebrate every yr, and justifies the closing of schools, banks, USPS, and government in general.. To me this holiday is just another wasted day in our society, and I do not care much for it.. WCP your my thanks to you still stands, since I did it before doing research on the topic.. I'm not liberal, but just do not see what the big deal is over this particular person we celebrate each yr..

We can still celebrate......We can celebrate that despite the history....we are a nation of the descendants of slaves, criminals, pioneers, dreamers, and achievers.....We have become greater beyond our founders' dreams.....
