Politics Do Not Pass/Pass With Care. Today's truckers are far more educated and cognizant of the issues regarding politics due to the sharp increase in talk radio, and various trucking news media sources. Talk politics. Do truckers like politicians?

Thumbs up Welcome back to Columbus, Christopher...

Quote:
Italian Festival honors controversial explorer with its own Columbus Day parade

After political correctness ran him out of town a decade ago, Christopher Columbus has ventured back into Columbus. He set sail through Italian Village yesterday in formal renaissance attire, although American flags and Hang on Sloopy weren't part of his voyage more than 500 years ago.
Danny Ristucci played the part of Christopher Columbus, something he's done for 25 years.
But from 1999 to 2006, there was no Columbus Day parade in Columbus.
Before that gap, Ristucci said he worried about his safety. Protesters said it wasn't appropriate to celebrate a man who set off a chain of events that decimated Native Americans.

I never understand how people can take the stand that what happened 500 years ago was wrong. Those were the times. He initiated what became the colonization of the "New World". Without his accomplishments this place may have never existed. Columbus should be celebrated. If you don't like it, go back to your ancestors land.

Libs are writing disparaging reports and claiming "America" would have been a much better place had Columbus not discovered America...

Hmmm...If he hadn't, I wonder if they would be using a computer to write their lambasting editorials or still using India ink and feather quills on parchment....

Remember, Columbus was a cruel slave trader. It's almost criminal, the way we were all indoctrinated with propaganda in school.

Remember also- if Columbus had not "discovered" America, a more honorable person would have.

Put aside this mythology and remember the genocide that this corupt butthead initiated. Also, put aside the bullsh** we were "taught" in school and learn some bona-fide fact...

Right.........

Who else would have taken the risks?

And our native friends were not so blameless in the slave trade.....

Who sold the slaves to Columbus?.....Hint.....it wasn't another European...
Besides...the Indians gave Europe such a nice present..... syphilis........

History is a chain of events...

  • Without Eli Whitney....the Industrial Revolution may or may not have started in the 1800's.....

  • Without Thomas Edison.....streets may have stayed dark much longer.....

  • Without Lincoln there may have not been a Civil war...but slavery might have lasted another 20 years or more in the US.....

  • Without Dr. Salk...many more may have died or suffered from polio......

  • Without Nazi V2 rocket technology there may not have been Apollo 11.....

History has its players and its makers.....

Columbus was a significant part of history....like him or not.....

True.....

Kids today are taught that our founders were evil slave owners.....

That Muhammad was God's prophet but Jesus is not mentioned.....Separation of "Judeo-Christian values and State....."

That Racism and bigotry are perpetrated by only the Caucasian race....

At least we can agree.....our kids are taught lies......and it will get worse....

All true, but what we were taught in school about Columbus is largely a nationalistic myth. Historical scholars will bear me out on this.

You may want to delve a little deeper into true American history.

I think that today- Columbus Day- should be more properly recognized as a day of shame...

Then why not Independence Day.....what about Memorial Day?.....why not Thanksgiving or Christmas Days too?.......

All of those "American" holidays offend someone or some group......so why not ban them all????
