The territory of montana was free during the civil war. So how were the trashy southerners able to take over this fine state? They are just as bad as the illegal immigrants who cross the southern border. Once they come they take over lol.

Both Senators are Democrats.

Governor is a Democrat.

Montana, for some anomalous reason, doesn't clearly fall within the predictable Blue state/Red state dichotomy. We aren't in Kansas anymore and even Thomas Frank would be baffled. Don't get me wrong though; this is still Bush country, as anyone with one eye open can detect. "W" stickers are flaunted on oversized SUV bumpers. Yellow "Support the Troop" magnets have been slapped on most every Ford truck. There is no question that these flag waving Montanans voted overwhelmingly in favor of George W. Bush last November. Republicans here are a dime a dozen.
I should know, I grew up out here on the eastern side of the continental divide in Billings, which is the largest city in Montana with a population of 90,000-plus. Billings, dubbed America's "Crank Capital" by Time in the late-1990s, is nestled beneath the shadows of 500 foot sand stone cliffs. The snow-capped Rockies are due west. The mighty Yellowstone River cuts through the south end of town. It's searing hot in the summer and bitter cold in winter. A forty-minute drive southeast will park you in the impoverished and desolate Crow Agency (Indian reservation) -- which houses the memorial for the Battle of the Little Big Horn where the great Indian slaughterer General George A. Custer met his much-deserved fate. There is a bloody ubiquitous history about this land. The aura of which can be troubling for those who know its past.

you found an article written by a burned out stoner who has no idea how life is lived here (weather they lived here or not, BIllings is not the heart of the land up here)

while we are mostly democrate's up here, the two party's are alot closer to each other than they are down south

Montana's only problem is allowing Californians to move in and Californicate aka Socialize the state......

The first major blizzard and some angry grizzes should rectify that situation....

and Bronc.....as one of the few normal Californians left who speak English...I aplogize for the morons who are trying to screw-up your home.......

Along with Oregon, Washington and now Nevada. They're working on Idaho and Arizona.

That is an article by some idiot written in 2005. Same old stuff, blame Bush.

The only "trashy southereners" I can think of that he may be talking about are southern Californians. That would seem more in line with the things he moans about.

The trashy southerners I'm referring to are the ones south of the mason dixon line. Hell, even californians have more rights to montana than they do considering california was a free state during the civil war era.
