Politics Do Not Pass/Pass With Care. Today's truckers are far more educated and cognizant of the issues regarding politics due to the sharp increase in talk radio, and various trucking news media sources. Talk politics. Do truckers like politicians?

If they outlaw fishing, you won't even be able to get fish-sticks at Kroger.

You won't even make it to Kroger. I've never seen fishermen riot but I wouldn't want to get caught out in one.

If you read the story it originated in 2007 way before Obama was in Office. Then resubmitted this year and still has no interest..

man you gotta go to the NRA you know the National Rifle Assoiation for info on proposed gun bills, at least they will point you in the right direction to the real story

It is H.R. 45: Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009. This bill was introduced in the 111th Congress by U. S. Rep. Bobby Rush (D IL) on Jan. 6, 2009. Failing to attract any co sponsors, it was referred for consideration to the House Committee on the Judiciary, where it now rests awaiting further action.

How do you save a faltering economy by increasing spending and taxes?

Also, according to that brilliant piece of legislation (read garbage), that 5 year old in Texas that killed the monster gator that came after him would probably be dead. "For the children" right? Bull ####.

70+ years of History would argue that this statement is wrong.

Interagency ocean policy task force

Here is a link to the interim report of the Interagency Ocean Policy Task Force; the one that Dave Pfeiffer of The Shimano American Corp. (a fishing gear manufacturer with a -ahem- vested interest in free for all fishing) has found to be such cause for alarm.

After reading all 38 pages of this boring sonofabi***, I am realizing that basically, this interim report addresses nothing specifically but instead seems to postulate simply that we as Americans should exercise better stewardship of our coastline areas.

Mr. Pfeiffer is correct on one point though; this document does not address the topic of the difference between sport fishing and commercial fishing. As a matter of fact this document hardly makes any specific mention at all of fishing of any kind.
I think that the alarm and finger pointing that we have seen on this thread over the past few days can serve as a good example of what can happen when we tend to rely on corporate America's self-interested accounting of current events and news instead of learning the true facts of the matter for ourselves.

I respectfully suggest that all of you take the time to read this document (and try to stay awake whilst doing so LOL) and draw your OWN conclusions about what it really says. I would welcome further discussion of this issue after we are all well versed and up to speed on what this document contains and what the implications of it really are.

*remember the good ol' days when we flushed our head (that's a marine toilet) and the contents were just pumped out through the hull of the boat right into the water? Remember when we'd chug that can 'o Bud and then just chuck the empty can over the side into the water? Remember when ships pumped their bilges right in the bay?

You guys know that I am as pro gun as they get... that piece of legislation is "dead in the water"...I assure you. (I follow them all closely)

But that don't mean there won't be another just as bad or worse that will be submitted tomorrow...it is a never ending battle.

Let's address the hi-lited...are we better served to "trust" ANYTHING the fed go'vt does? How so?

As with ANY gov't mandate, when is enough, enough?
The "incrementalism" that has been used to get us where we are was in the beginning...gov't ideaology.
The intent is irrelevant as far as "track record" goes. And as pointed out, what is there will probably not be what we see...just these are enough to oppose ANYTHING if not everything DC thinks(?) is needed.
