I believe a time will come when an opportunity will be offered to abolish this lamentable evil. Everything we do is to improve it, if it happens in our day; if not, let us transmit to our descendants, together with our slaves, a pity for their unhappy lot and an abhorrence of slavery. Patrick Henry, letter to Robert Pleasants, January 18, 1773 Government, in my humble opinion, should be formed to secure and to enlarge the exercise of the natural rights of its members; and every government, which has not this in view, as its principal object, is not a government of the legitimate kind. James Wilson, Lectures on Law, 1791

Interesting. I actually agree with Rex. Oh not with his snide insult towards Looneytunes but with his comment about respecting the country but not the government. However, I see the problem with debate on this topic often occurs over the use of the word "government". To some they see the word "government" and think of our form of government. Others view and use the term meaning the current admin or current congress. (There are other variables in the usage. Perhaps if we all were a bit plainer or specific in our wording we might understand each other better. Just a thought. I love our form of government. I do not care for the way most of our elected and appointed officials have prostituted our government and our nation. I certainly mean the current administration but I also mean many of the elected and appointed officials whom have been in office much longer than Obama. *scratches my head* sheeeesh who'd have thought I'd ever agree with rex ever again? |

| Questioning the Government is fine. Using insane arguments to do so is not.

| Last time we are asking, folks....either keep the discussion respectful and civil, or it's time for us to take more drastic measures....to include closing the thread, infractions, and vacations. |

| rx, That my friend is the very TRUE definition of being a patriot. Those people with the "Follow any order the president gives me even if it's unconstitutional, or flat out morally WRONG" will end up working for the new hitler. |

| I agree MT. That's why I try to refrain from insults or lashing out at people.I ain't perfect though and on occasion slip up as we all do from time to time. Sometimes I wonder if some on here intentionally start with the insults to get a thread closed down cause they know they're not winning the argument.
