White House Cites Opinion Shows as Basis for Fox News Complaints

Quote:
White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs on Tuesday pointed to two top-rated opinion shows on Fox News as the reason why the Obama administration has castigated the network as an illegitimate news organization.
Gibbs weighed in on the controversy after several top White House advisers have gone on other channels to criticize Fox News' coverage of the administration, dismiss the network as the mouthpiece of the Republican Party and urge other news organizations not to treat Fox News as a legitimate news station.
Gibbs said White House officials "render (that) opinion based on some their coverage and the fairness of that coverage."
But asked how Fox News was different from other news organizations, Gibbs mentioned the channel's 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. shows, in an explicit reference to "Beck" and "Hannity" -- even though those two shows represent opinion programming.
Informed that those hours are for opinion programming, Gibbs said: "That is our opinion."
Michael Clemente, senior vice president of news for Fox News, issued a statement Tuesday defending the company.

Hmmm last time I checked I thought Hannity and Beck were entitled to their opinion? See this is why so many on the Democrat side are pushing for the fairness doctrine. It's not to have fair debate folks, it's to shut down anyone who disagrees with them.

The administrations basis is that Fox is not a credible news source........yet every time they complain about them their ratings soar. It's comical because the only ones they actually refer to is Hannity and Beck. Fox has usually great news coverage, which is what makes the White House's allegations ridiculous. I think they are going to find out that Chicago style politics is not going to work for the entire country.

The Whitehouse opinion is WRONG. Back and Hannity back their so-called opinions with FACTS. The Whitehouse is starting to run scared and come up with any bs excuse they can think of to try and cover their ###.

You are right Hitman. Hannity and Beck don't just spew out stuff without doing research. I don't think Hannity became the number two talk radio show host by just giving out opinions without facts to back it up. Another good one to listen to is Neil Boortz. He's another one that does plenty of research. He makes liberals look foolish in a debate.

I suppose the "Opinion" shows on Main-Scream Media, like Matthews et al; don't count because they get that certain "tingle" up their thighs, huh?

Which is exactly why Beck has that red phone on his set, just daring the White House to prove him wrong on anything he is saying.

An "opinion" cannot be right OR wrong. It is ONLY an "opinion".

Okay, true. However when using an opinion to rob American's of their freedom of speech........the action is wrong.
