While I in fact agree with most of your opinion here, I must say that I don't think that military intervention in this case is doing a thing toward solving any problems and is in fact causing a problem to become much worse.

Leaving aside our effective use of our military in past instances and a false sense of nationalism, I think that our military involvement in Afghanistan is an exercise in futility and will have disastrous consequences- witness the ruination of the Russians over there.

The point is, you are living in a dream world if you think everything would be hunky dorry in the region if we picked up and went home.

In Afghanistan, you have the Taliban, a group of fundamentalist nutjobs denying the most basic human rights to half their population.

Regular folks in Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan just want this #### to end. If we leave, it will make zero difference to the majority of people living in these countries, they aren't pissed we are there now.

The nutjobs seek to cause trouble, and to think they will stop going after America or other western countries who don't kowtow to their sheet-wrapped version of a prophet is the height of ignorance.

These wackos want to live in the fourth century, and unfortunately, the world is too small a place in the twenty first century for anyone to be forced to do that.

And the Ditherer-In-Chief is not helping anybody with his indecision. All this BS about waiting for an election in Afghanistan is all BS, the two candidates share the same views on the subject.

Jag Bag in Chief needs to act like a President and make a decision one way or the other. I feel his doesn't possess the cherries to do the right thing, so instead of doing it half-baked, he should admit he wants us to lose and bring our folks home.

When the region blows up again, he'll be out of office and the President, whichever Republican she is, will have the fortitude to make the right call, and go in with everything we've got and straighten the place out.

Do you as a mature and loving father step to the door and say “hey boys want some popcorn and I'm so sorry that my people offended yours. Gee I hope you don't decide to kill my daughter after you rape her” or do you turn immature and get the shotgun from the pantry then blow them to kingdom come?
