Yes, lets give all the countries that hate us anyway even more reason to band together and start a real war. They're already pissed off at that idea, they think that's what we're doing.

Us Canadians just love selling energy to the USA. We can take all the royalties and taxes we get from it and pay for all OUR social programs with your money. Norway has built up such an incredible pot of loot since the north sea started producing that it will fund their social programs forever even when they run out of oil. They have just bought a huge lease in the oil sands and they claim they have a new process for getting the oil without even digging up the ground so then they will start to export oil to the USA from here. Of course the American oil companies are also big players here. Canada is one of the few countries that hasn't nationalized the oil business and I doubt we ever will.

And we do love the canadian oil. We love the cheap hydroelectric power you guys send down too. And the lumber. I'm really tired of buying stuff from people who'd love to see us burn to the ground, though.

Norway funds it social programs through ridiculously high taxes.

Oh, and their fund that will "fund...forever" lost almost 24% in 2008.
