No I don't want to see that. But I am very sick of liberal judges taking the side of the poor prisoner and screwing the taxpayer and victims in the process. TX used to have a prison system that was actually making a small profit. Totally self sufficient. Then some years ago a maggot named Barefoot Sander-federal judge-got involved and it has done nothing but get expensive and less effective ever since. More is spent now on air conditioning all the prisons then used to be spent in total. Much food is now bought instead of raised. And on and on.

You're damned right I would like to see these criminals punished. Bring back more public trials and punishments. Whether you think it is the "dark ages" style of punishishment or not criminals will be a bit more leary of a system that will actually punish them for their crimes instead of rewarding them.

When I left the state as a JCO we had a 79% recommit rate from just our juveniles! That was up from the 25% mark when I started. During the name of our facility went from Ron Jackson State Correctional Facility to Ron Jackson State Rehabilitation Facility. The girls were originally treated like it was a bootcamp, they were told what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. They were forced to march to school, forced to march to their dorms, and forced to march to chow with military cadence. They were also given 2 nights of tv per week (friday and saturday) depending on their behavior and phase level (phases were rewarded for doing well in their classes, following instructions from JCO's, and completing assignments from their caseworkers).

Fast forward to when I left; the phase system was removed and girls who are incarcerated for CRIMES are now given all the luxuries of home, can tell staff to STFU! and assault staff (physically) without so much as a worry about getting extra time added on to them. They are allowed tv time when THEY want it or you are abusing them by not letting them see what is going on in the free, they can refuse to go to chow in which case staff has to remain present on the dorm while food is brought to them.

Screw the system!

Texas system has gotten really PC. Worked with guy in Iraq. Had 12 yrs as prison guard. Was told he could come back to same status. Big lie. Lived in Temple-was told he would have to work in Palestine although openings were available much closer. But I have seen before the tougher the economy gets the less tolerance for criminals. Steal your lawnmower when your flush you're PO'd. When your unemployed you're livid.

The convicts think jail is a joke ... and many are converting to ISLAM ....

Why don't we ship them to sauda and let them free in the place that they feel
will set them free .....
I wonder how fast they will want to come back ....

No doubt criminals need to be punished. But we still gotta draw a line to separate us from the barbarians(yes I'm looking at you, ME). Even France eventually got rid of their guillotine.

I think a boot camp style was a pretty damn good idea. And pink jail outfits.
