Most people know that INTERNATIONAL terrorists have long since left Afghanistan. Just about all of the terrorism (not quite all though) going on in Afghanistan at this time is directed toward invading foreign forces- this is a simple proven fact.

I stand by my statement that if you are on the hunt for INTERNATIONAL terrorists- read al-Qaeda- you would have better results checking for ones hiding under your bed rather than in Afghanistan. This is a simple fact- no matter how much government propaganda you choose to be suckered into believing.

"How much of the country can we just leave to be run by the locals?" a senior US official asked a Washington Post reporter. "How do you separate those who have taken up arms because they oppose the presence of foreigners in their area because they are getting paid to fight us ... from those who want to restore a Taliban government?"
The answer to his question seemed to be - remove the foreign forces.
It all points to a White House acceptance of the oft-stated advice that in Afghanistan, the presence of foreign forces is as much a core issue as is what the Taliban might or might not do. Unlike Iraq, where US forces were caught between warring factions, most of the violence in Afghanistan is targeted at the foreign forces."

Easy answer: They can't; and they WON'T as the truth about what our government is doing in Afghanistan continues to become more widely known.
This would explain why the American peoples' tolerance for this madness continues to plummet.

The warlords we champion in Afghanistan are as venal, as opposed to the rights of women and basic democratic freedoms, and as heavily involved in opium trafficking as the Taliban. The moral lines we draw between us and our adversaries are fictional. The uplifting narratives used to justify the war in Afghanistan are pathetic attempts to redeem acts of senseless brutality. War cannot be waged to instill any virtue, including democracy or the liberation of women. War always empowers those who have a penchant for violence and access to weapons. War turns the moral order upside down and abolishes all discussions of human rights. War banishes the just and the decent to the margins of society. And the weapons of war do not separate the innocent and the damned. An aerial drone is our version of an improvised explosive device. An iron fragmentation bomb is our answer to a suicide bomb. A burst from a belt-fed machine gun causes the same terror and bloodshed among civilians no matter who pulls the trigger.

Rex this thread was to honor a fallen soldier just days before he was going to go home. Seriously there are many other threads where you can go off on your political rants about how all war is illegal, 9/11 was an inside job, and so on. I find it highly insulting that you in a roundabout way continue to make America sound like the terrorists here. Maybe some do like to sit on their hands and pretend terrorism is just a bad dream and you click your heels 3 times and it will be gone, but the rest of us live in reality and know that terrorism is an ongoing threat to the free world and unfortunately we have a POTUS who cannot seem to ever grasp that concept, nor does he want to as far as I'm concerned.
