Politics Do Not Pass/Pass With Care. Today's truckers are far more educated and cognizant of the issues regarding politics due to the sharp increase in talk radio, and various trucking news media sources. Talk politics. Do truckers like politicians?

Smiley 5 Pelosi claims "We won last night".....Yeah...what exactly?

The liberal mind...it doesn't sense the atrophy and rot from so little use:

Most House Democrats tried to put a good face on Tuesday's election results, saying they picked up two more votes for a sweeping health care bill that could be on the floor as early as Friday.

But it can't make it any easier for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as she works to corral the last holdouts she needs to pass legislation overhauling the nation’s health care system.

Of course, the speaker, who told POLITICO recently she's "not big on showing weakness," brushed aside questions about how the Democratic gubernatorial losses in Virginia and New Jersey would impact her final tally and instead trumpeted the two special election House wins.

"From our perspective, we won last night," the California Democrat told reporters during a Wednesday photo op. "We had one race that we were engaged in, it was in northern New York, it was a race where a Republican has held the seat since the Civil War. And we won that seat.

So, from our standpoint, no, a candidate was victorious who supports health care reform, and his remarks last night said this was a victory for health care reform and other initiatives for the American people."

"From our standpoint, we picked up votes last night," a cheerful Pelosi said, "one in California and one in New York."

I love this one:

If she is happy with last night's results, she will be thrilled when the rest of the Dems get tossed out in 2010. She'll be ecstatic when her own ugly self gets voted out. Hey, that is win-win, as the rest of us will be happy, too.

I am from the 23rd district, politics are not the usual type politics up here, for example most positions have been held for many years by the same person, most of them Republican and alot of times un-opposed, so for a new person to get onto the ballot, he would have to get nomintated on an empty ticket, that is why we have alot of so-called democrats who are very conservative and republicans who are in office but do not have conservative values. Scozzaffava was the mayor of a town thats half welfare and now that the mines have closed the other half is unemployed, Gouvernuer has like 8 or 9 thousand people so it is one of the biggest towns in St. Lawrence county. She got on the Repub. ticket because the incumbant mayor (one term) was on the Dem. ticket. Her hubby is a big shot union lefty and her brother is a shady venture capitolist(they had a small scandal when Dede was on the county board and got legislation passed the helped out her brothers company) So she is not exactly a true Repub. Like Bill Owens who ran as a conservative Dem. We will see how he works out. We are a very rural area with conservative values, but have been overrun with city people, prisons and the Army's dependents the last twenty years, so we have to deal with the nonsense they bring with them like crime, drugs and higher taxes, most of us would love it if they all went back to where they came from and take their trash with them but it is a free country, though not sure for how much longer

Allow me to stir up the hornets nest and be the bad guy of the thread.

To say this is some monumental victory from either side is just stupid. People looking for some sign in last night's election is really reaching to say the least. For the Republicans to claim some kinda revolution based on 2 gubernatorial races in states there are far from solid Democrat is ludicrous. For the Dem's to claim picking up 2 house seats is a great sign of things to come is also just plain dumb. Will the Republicans gain seats in 2010? Of course they will. It's the way politics turns. Will there be huge gains that the Republicans think will happen? Very unlikely.
