Yea, I heard about two weeks ago they may be doing this so I shelved my plans to finish talking to them. After speaking with a number of their drivers things have gotten real bad there very recently.

In regards to Texas freight, it is bad in many areas. My company pulls tons out of DFW and even we have felt the drop off heavily. When I get into DFW it is hit or miss if I have to wait a day, or sometimes even three to get back out on the road.

anyone know anything about them? good, bad or otherwise?
I am seriously considering their greatstart program and have seen or heard very little about them
from what I do know I think they would be a better option for me than going to soek for some OTR outfit where I would be gone from home 3-4 weeks at a time
anyone else out there on their lease program? are you making money?

Greatwide Logistics Services is ranked 23rd in gross revenue, with 727 company tractors and 5,170 owner operators. They are completing reorganization and sale to a lender group after filing for bankruptcy last October. This was last year's largest trucking bankruptcy. Volume is off significantly as it is for other fleets according to CEO Ray Greer who was quoted in Transport Topics 1/26/09 page 6. This article was written by Rip Watson, Senior Reporter.

I bought my truck through them three years ago, it's all paid off now. I did okay, but it takes a while to learn how to run for them. There's a world of difference after you've been running 48 for years.

we are thinking of GW too. I think the balloon payment is $10,000 at end of lease.
Are neighbor is a driver and is very happy. My husb was a company "stew" driver and was happy driving. Dispatch was good too. The more you prove your ready willing and able they will keep you moving! good luck and let me know how it goes goose!

i agree they do that all the time, everytime theres a change on the system they will bring some idiot from another terminal to try to sell on it ,is so ovbious ,stay away from great wide right now ,too many trucks and not enough freight to keep every body running ,and they change the system now were workin on a central dispatch if u get a call and dont take a load u go to the bottom of the list ,they dont care if what the situation is,my wife was goin into labor and i was still punish, this is what happens when u have some suits siitin behind a desk running a truckin company that have no idea what is like to be a truck driver,i bet most of this people have never been in a truck,,what a shame it use to be a good company to work for,im not the only one with this opinion every body that i talk to fells the same way:biggrin_2553:

I am a contractor for Greatwide at one of the Dallas wal mart dcs.... I wouldnt get close to great start at all... I have been with them for 5 years and I work just about every day but can not seem to manage over 1000 miles a week.. On top of this if you lease on now you will be making .73 cents a mile and not hardly getting any... Last year they went to a central dispatch system and you can not figure it out one day you will be first up and not get a load and the next day you will be 100 and get one.. They say it is not force dispatch but take off a Friday Saturday or Sunday and see if your Tm isn't up your butt threating you with what little work you get..

We just signed a new contract last week and this contract is not a driver friendly contract it is all for greatwide.. They took away some of the stop pay we were getting along with service charges on our tags that are not going to the state of Oklahoma but a in house charge of 25$.

3 years ago this was the best company going I took home around 3000 a week and never left north texas .. Yeah I ran 6 days a week and worked 15 hours a day but it was worth it... Last week I ran 6 days averaged 158 miles a day and took home 755$ after fuel and texas required workmans comp.. I looked at my log book just now and I average 4 hours a day for the last 3 month...

I am looking for something else... This is the Greatwide way... the only thing Greatwide about this company is your butthole after they get done with you

They used to have good flatbed div. We made good money but it has dried up. They tried to put us on Wal Mart. .73 a mile and some small change for each stop. Screw that. I don't mind being tired. But tired and broke is stupid.

It sucks dangly things now though..
