1st, Auto shift trucks dimminish your skills and make you dumb and lazy. "nd PTL dose a lot of Chicago and the upper midwest, some south, and California. They haul a lot of groceries, paper rolls, and most loads are very heavy. But here´s what you really need to know.... 2 classes per week for orientation= 40 drivers x 50 weeks = 2000 drivers x 10 yeras= 20,000 drivers to fill 950 trucks.

I've lived about 5 miles from their HQ in Murray the last 15 years but I admit I really know diddly squat about them. From the sound of things it's one to avoid. It's a shame since they're so close to me.

i worked with ptl back in 03 as a company driver, it was forced dispatch then, but not forced north east of nj Newark area and n east wasnt forced if i remember correctly and they paid extra for going there as for miles BACK IN 03 when economy was better i was getting apx 2800 per week, and i did go to elpaso alot but i was fortunate to not have to go to CALI to often maybe 3 times a year i went to cali.
I LIKED THEM, autoshifts, perdiem pay not sure what it is now. avg loh for me was 800 miles back in 03 and o4, but come 08 due to bad economy dropped to about 400 miles. As a company and owner op with them i never had to unload a trl they always paid the lumpers no matter how ridiculus the price, but didnt get that much grocery whs friegt anyway.
in 2004 i owner op with them, and they were pretty good then for owner operators at least for me. but in 2008 frieght started getting pretty bad due to economy so i came up with the brilliant idea of moving to JB freakadeak Hunt, (i thought that the large carriers might be doing better on frieght even in tough times) Man was that a mistake, (im getting apx 1400 miles per week or less. ) now im planning on leaving them soon, to move to cdn logistics, mercer, or ceva ground. the above three carriers owner op only i believe. (at jb i have to compete with intermodel, company drivers, so that is why there is less frieght for dry van jb sends alot of their loads threw the railroads. ) dont come over to jbhunt. .... -
Well folks...I've heard it all!!! Listen I've been working at PTL for about 15 years now, and yes I heard about that team....and I know the team, yes wife was killed and the husband is still alive.....but the real truth is that didn't happened to them at PTL...it happened to them after they left PTL and went to their next company!!! I would tell you the name of the next compnay, but the husband is a friend and I wouldn't want him to have to read this, he is still very upset!!!! So when you talk trash, make sure you have your facts straight, you could be effecting other drivers just like you!!!! As far as PTL, they have been GREAT for me!!! If your husband is not happy at PTL...then by all means LEAVE! THERE ARE OTHER COMPANIES HIRING! If your a GOOD DRIVER, any company would snatch you up!!! PTL has been very GOOD to me, if your willing to run, and not go home every turn of the wheel, you will do GREAT at PTL!!!!!
