SWR setting problems

as to mounting it between the roof rack i had no idea wilson recommends mounting it in front of it. i put it in the middle did some minor cutting and it worked just fine

 

Trim the whip down some. I've got three Lil Wil antennas, and all three were running high SWRs until I trimmed approx 3/4" off of them. Now, all three (on a '89 C-1500 & '01 Jetta) are getting 1.5 across all channels.

If you do trim, make sure to stay 1/4" at a time, as tempting as it would be to cut more to get the process going faster!

 

redmule, Don't know if it would help. But grounded my cox. from the back of the radio & got my swr's down to 1. give it a try, don't think it will hurt

 

if yor swrs are high on 1 and 40 you most likely have a ground problem

 

also theres some misinformation here if your swrs are higher on 1 you have to pull the antenna out if its higher 0n 40 you need to cut it a little bit 1/4 inch at a time if its 3 or above across the board its most likely a ground problem hope that helps

 

Also check the coax. If there is a cut in it or an end is damaged than can also mess things up.

Are you also calibrating the radio to read the swr?
Depending on the radio you have to switch to calibrate mode then after you calibrate the radio you switch to swr mode.
I believe some of the Unidens and Cobras are like that.
