I wonder if my state classing tow trucks as emergency vehicles has something to do with us not being held to the rules. I mean we still had rules, I got busted by the DOT van for not having the magnetic lights on a car I was towing one day. I didn't like them, they tended to scratch the paint. He never asked for med card or log books. We never had to stop at scales either.

You are not an EMT nor are you Fire or Police so get off your soap box. If you can't handle the call they simply call out the next on rotation. Your 20 minutes rule is a contract point not a point of law. As far as running 96 Hours straight you are in so much deep crap if you have an accident you wont see the light of days for years. Your employers is taking advantage of you being naive. By the way you are personally responsible for HOS/DOT violations that could be as high as 1000.00 per violation.
This is the wrong forum to brag about violating HOS law, think before you type... -
Nah, he won't. Not when he's been doing the same thing for 30 years. And they'd have to go after every single tow driver within a 300 mile radius. Everybody runs like that.
Actually, I had two accidents. No tickets, no record, no nothing. -

I need some help to know which way to turn. My husband and son work for a towing company in pa. The boss is an awful person. Screams at my son constantly belittles people and makes them work to the point of exhaustion. They work 60 hours a week, my son does 1 night call ,husband has 2. That's extra over the 60 hours. My son has been getting sick we believe from the antifreeze leak in the truck. There are slow days but most of the time they drive constantly almost falling asleep at the wheel. The trucks have bald tires, leaking fluids, beds shift while driving, motors are about shot in my opinion and others the trucks should be shut down. Even AAA tells customers to do their best not to use the company. Right now they have a driver who was reported multiple times a day how bad he smells of pot. He still has a job. Please help me report this company. My family has had enough of this company's treatment and have been applying other places

When the Policeman is calling for a wrecker, that's you. Off you go.
I remember one in particular he showed up pretty tired. I ended up helping him in many ways. Im happy to help. But the truck is sick, and shes hurting needing a tow. So... you pitch in and help where possible. Otherwise when tow man says scram yer hurt you scram. EMT is there to patch you up or take you on into the hospital before too long.
Just hope that you have had everything in order before the smash. After the smash, the police and fire etc will be going through your entire tractor. Your papers will need to be in order or you will see a stack of violations written up against you which will not look good in court when you are sued later civil. -
Tell them to quit.
That's the only solution.
AND if they get into an accident and the ambulance chaser lawyer is looking for witnesses, have them step up and tell the lawyer what they know about the company. -
Instead they need their wife and mother to beg for help from a forum as to how to report them?
Sad.DSK333 Thanks this.
