I can understand a driver being able to correct lines 1,2,4 to correct mistakes. My post was about anyone changing driving time.

You make very good points... I used to be dead set against hos, eobr's, and pretty much any other law passed to slow me down..But I'm getting to the point where I really dont care anymore (Truckin aint Truckin anymore) and I'm gettin tired of stressing over it, but I know where the other guy is coming from also..Its coming down to this "If you cant pay for your truck (as a small O/O) when you buy it, you WILL NOT MAKE IT". You see, people break the law because they cant follow it and survive... Some give excusses like getting home early, or to make more money, but it really comes down to them not being financialy stable enouph to hold out for that good paying load, so they run more miles to make up for low pay (Running the wheels off their truck just to pay for it) I hold those drivers close to my heart, because for many years I was that driver, I was not greedy, but just doing what my situation dictated to me. Many weeks I have operated a 100thsnd dollar rig with 50 bucks to my name, but you are 100% right....Its coming, and trucking will never be the same again, and those who think their gonna beat the system will get beat themselves. Trucking isnt what it was 20yrs ago, and you cant run like you did back then. It saddens me to see the DEATH of Trucking, (true trucking) , but its happening before our eyes.......Everything that ever interested me, dazzled me, and excited me about trucking, and the drivers, is almost all gone...These systems will be the last straw for me..

They will be saddly. They arent the first company to do this with EOBR's, that company with those blue trucks, they been doing it from the beginning, and they are still around.

Really. So companies like Werner, Central Ref, CR England, Prime and others that are running these electronic logs are not editing logs and hidding it? Your saddly mistaken. Their logs dept's have full editing access to your HOS logs and can change them to read what ever they want. I know this for I have seen it with my own eyes more then once. I will never drive again for a company that is elec HOS logs, and when the day comes all companies go to it, I will find a new career. Its my pocket book that pays the ticket, its my butt that goes to prison if I kill someone because I was driving when I knew I shouldnt have been, Not the dispatcher, not the company owner, ME. I have always lived by a code of conduct, and I will not break it for anyone, especially when its at my exspence. sorry is spelling is off, just a we bit tired.

Most certainly the major companies will still be in business, they can afford to run legal by taking their profits from the driver's wallets!
Let's not raise rates, instead we can lower pay and cut benefits!!!
Like a previous poster said almost all the things that attracted me to trucking are gone! It's not fun anymore and is slowly becoming less profitable especially when you consider the liability and time spent away from home!!!

Your story tell it any way you want. Use that brain of yours.

  9. Two thumbs up to you, sir! :) That's really my point. I'd like to split my time. I'd like to take less than 10 hours break sometimes, when I feel great and ready to go. There's lot's of thing i'd like to do. I always, however, think of the possibility of explaining and justifying my actions to a jury of my peers. The legal exposure is far too great to risk it. Go to jail for the money I make driving a truck? Nah, too risky for me.

Just happened to me today. "Out of coverage" for an extended (2 hours plus) period. I had driven over 7 hours since midnite, DOT's mandated EORB showed less than 4.

True that once driving time is recorder, it can't be changed, but when the system loses you (and for me it happens at least once a day), enter what you like, the and the stupid computers will not catch it.

I absolutely hate this system. If it really worked, I could live with it, but with all the dropouts, it is completely worthless.

And the ####### suits who implemented it are some of the most ignorant ##### that have ever walked the face of the Earth.

As you can probably tell, I am not happy about this ####.
