Greetings to all, Great forum. I am doing some investigating on frac sand hauling in texas and would be appreciate any information any of you can pass on. I have tons of questions but most are obvious, i will post a few but anything you can pass on is welcomed.

Is this a seasonal gig or year around?
Is there a particular area of texas where I should base out of?
What is the approximate range of offroad travel required?
Are there any companies in particular that are recommended?
If so please provide a name and # if you have one.
The pay seems to be all over the place, what is the high/low range and what are the determining factors?

Gentlemen, thank you in advance for your help.
    Tom

The last contact I talked to about hauling frac sand told me I should stay where I am and that the business had slowed down. And this was an employer, and he was interested until I told him how much I was bringing home a week.

The saltwater has slowed down too and pay has been cut.

There's a steady ad running in the Texas secondary market papers promising 4-6k a week for contract ops however they want 1 mil. ins. plus blower and 100' of hose and ur trailer. ( why would you pay them? ) You must also be able to load 48k.

This is Flex Frac out of Fort Worth whom is a strategic partner with Superior Silica Sand in Kosse, near Waco. Flex Frac owes Superior millions. Superior is currently in trouble. Superior is owned by a venture group whom is loosing their ### on this venture. Insiders told me that Insight, the venture group has threatened to close Superior several times. Insight is also cozy with Flex Frac.

I've seen Dillon Transport out the Chicago area loading at Superior suggesting the locals are hip to the game and won't play anymore.

Looks like a sinking ship to me.....

I know a local company near me dose it. I talked to several of their drivers about it and the say they sometimes sit for days waiting to unload but they are getting paid buy the hour to sit their. They make a lot of money but are sitting in a field in the middle of nowhere. Not for me but if you got patients your making money.

Spent several years in the Oifield myself. It was either kill yourself or sit for days. Get a Satellite TV installed if you can, carry a cooler and refrigerator and keep it stocked and some canned food like canned ham canned black beans and heat the two together. Keep winter coveralls handy and rain gear because you'll be outside as soon as the freezing rain starts in Gotebo or Guymon.
