I had a ProStar in 09 and it was a sad tractor. Shake, rattle, roll, and leaks water and air gallor. The Lone Star is just a ProStar with another piece of cromed plasic in front. Lots of hype no... Lots of down time due to recalls and updates. The instrament cluster never functioned properly.

    Sorry,
    Gonzo

Lonestars are a nightmare to work on too. One of the worst trucks out there!

Dealer only for reprogramming with a Maxxforce engine. Cummins can be done by anyone with Insite program. Most companies password protect their trucks so drivers can't change stuff behind their backs, like you! LOL! Sorry.

I have heard that before. I myself been doing it for over 11 years & never a prob. with my fuse being readily accessible, I could easily put back in & run ocaisionally as needed. but even when I had not pulled fuse out, when I fist got the truck. I would never put on a/c until I needed it. so there would be no difference.other than the compressor running & using more fuel.

If you find the right tech he'll change whatever programmable parameter you want him to.

i am driving a prostar with 25,000 miles, and the clutch linkage sounds like it will coem through the floor at me under load, the windshield and windows leak, the instrument cluster doenst work sometimes, the CB wiring is jacked up, the hood makes a SERIOUS clunk over the smallest of bumps, even greased, and I can't pull over 55k GVW without losing speed on level ground.

It is pretty quiet though, I guess. Oh and I get 5.2 mpg's at best.

For the clutch linkage issue, they do get loose and rattle around sometimes. If you have a cummins engine you need part 3839857C94, If you have a MaxxForce engine you need 3867630C92. Should be covered under warranty.

i have a 2012 prostarit now has 25000 miles on it,i had an oil leak on it and they towed it in and changed the gasket,a week later it leaked again. they put the second gasket on it then 2 week later a new leak, they then put a new pan and gasket on it,1 week later lt leaking again, now they put a new pan on it again. the truck had a cracked exhaust manifold that burned through the wiring harness, witch took a week to fix.now its in the shop cause the fuel pump went out.they took it out for a road test after fixing it and they had to tow it back, but its not the fuel pump, its something else now. this truck must have been born on friday or monday lol to keep from crying
