I got pre-hired by Werner and the lady said that she is going to put me on the Dedicated route out of Chattanooga, TN for Dollar General. I will be starting truck school next week at Truck Driver Institute in Murfreesboro, TN. Is this job a good job for a rookie?

Did you read the thread? A lot of Blind backing into DG while dealing W highway traffic. Not good if your a new solo, too easy to hit stuff. If you're teaming,it would be easier,as your team mate could assist you.Don't believe every thing a recruiter tells you, think used car salesman X 2.

I also applied with TMC but Werner was the first to hire me. The lady said that I would be making 800-1000 a week doing the dedicated for the dollar general account.

Did you wonder why it's got such a high driver turnover rate? After 2-3 backing mishaps(which happen frequently due to difficult parking),drivers get booted off this account. Also it's a lot of hard work hand unloading those containers,a lot of guys want no touch freight and more miles;your not getting a lot of miles w/ multiple stops per day at DG.

I want the hard labor, that is why this one sounds appealing to me. Or flatbed driving. I am not going to do this forever, probably only a couple years. I have a degree in criminal justice, I need to get into good shape before I go to the police academy. So I am just doing truckin for a while.

I ran the DG out of Zanesville, OH my first job out of truck school. It was tough work but it paid real well and I lost weight, especially in the summer months. But I did pick up some little, stupid backing accidents that kind of made it tough to get on elsewhere, at least until they were more than three years old. I might go back but I live in Texas now so it would be with Werner out of Ardmore, OK. I really don't care that much about the money, I'm a big fat fatty and need to drop a lot of LB's, maybe 70 or 80. That's a life-changing, or better put, live-saving amount of lost weight. I'm a different driver now and would not make stupid mistakes like before. I don't think I'd recommend DG for a rookie. I was in DAC hell for a bit.

And yes there are some smokin' hot women in the DG stores. 9 out of 10 DG employees are women. But like anywhere, hot ladies like well built men so maybe after about nine months of hard, sweatty unloading on this account I'll be ready to "mingle" so to speak...:biggrin_25525:

Also you can make mad coin if you are a trainer on a DG account, like around $1700 per week is what I saw. My trainer made that.

Explain to me how you work seven days for a company and don't have any money? It sounds like your not telling the truth?
