If I could choose a job out there, I sure wish I could be a bull hauler. I love cattle and ranching, and have no idea how to get into this tight knit community of drivers.

Haulin' cattle really aint that great...if you like gettin kicked, headbutted, gettin your feet stepped on, and beatin stubborn heifers with cattle sticks...all while walkin around in crap halfway up your boots...then it's your dream job...it's pretty fun though, I can't complain, it's better than a lot of jobs...but if you like farming and ranching, I did combine haulin for a year in Big Sandy, Montana...and I liked that a lot...got to stay out in the country, no city driving, people was real friendly...the roads weren't the best but it was alright...and there's always farms out west with jobs for truckers during summer harvest, mostly hauling grain

Dont forget washing out the trailer and getting covered with "green" splatter.
But the main thing---live load can be treacherous--cows move around in the trailer, and can have a high center of gravity.

With all that said----if you have a good driving record, check with Snow farms in Harrison, Ar. they have three or four trucks and periodically need new drivers.

yup, can't forget about that...I get the boys that work on our farm to wash my trailers:biggrin_2559:...I remember about 2 years ago one of the boys was washing my trailer, and he ran out and started puking...turns out he sprayed straight into the floor and got a mouthful of that "green splatter":biggrin_25523:

Be prepared to be run hard taking in consideration that these are live critters your hauling. So the only time that left door comes open is when you have to stop run the cattle through a water tank and back on the trailer. Don't worry about the crap being up to your boots. All of our trucks and washed out between loads meaning less weight witch you will find out plays the biggest factor in hauling cattle, that and making sure no cattle go down.
    Just my 2 cents worth

    Thanks Mike

if your that worried about the weight on your loads...then I sure wouldn't be stopping for water...if each cow drank 2 gallons of water at the stop...that'd be about 16 1/2 pounds more per head?...times the head of cattle on the pot...adds up to a lot of weight...and if your hauling loads where your worried about how clean the interior of your truck is...that'd be risky
