I went thru school last year, then went to work for Werner. It was a continuous nightmare. Training was insane, although I believe it is probably the best way to get u on the road. Many changes could be made to the training program. I pushed myself through it thinking once I get my own truck most will be better. Not so.
I was a good driver, agreeing to stay on the road for at least 5 weeks at a time. I could go on, but get the idea I did whatever they wanted with no failures or moaning. I did receive brand new international truck. That was nice! But I made no money, $250- $400 a week. Ok maybe a couple weeks I made more. But not much. It is the business, it is the way it will be. Either enjoy the life on the road for little pay and moments of stress, being bored and dirty, some dangers, traffic jams and all. As well as the fun and adventures that come, the incredible views. The joys of finding a parking spot with 3 minutes left on your clock.
I loved driving, just couldnt afford to. I plan on selling my house, getting rid of my debts and getting back on the road. NOT for Werner.
    good luck to all.

Martin did me sour!!! 10 times better than werner.Pay went from 21 cpm to 34 cpm dead or loaded(not that werner 14 cpm dead pay)....Same major B S, but not as bad, newer Qualcomms w/decent GPS already programed to most of the cuctomers that almost worked legally....I had the oldest truck they had for a still newbie and when DOT had 1 of those hard hittin, ball bustin no one gets threw without $%#@$#@, The old truck passed flying colors. The parking lot full o f all kinds of drivers and mobile mechs trying to get it to be legal. Martin still is not a good comp but can be a job until u get soething better:biggrin_2553::biggrin_2557::biggrin_25510:

Ask other drivers at terms and try to get on a good run or dedicated or maybe Family dollar in VA not OK,its driver unload and i made ok $$$ but lived in Sunny dee CA so i was just temp. When i was there some drivers made Bank and most get the big one where it hurts and ruin there mvr,dac or other things to make them the big % of failures...Investigate,listen to advice but remember all drivers can be full of it and must dont admit or know that they r getting a bad deal, drive safe

I drove for werner for about 2 years as a team driver I went though
5 co drivers due to no miles or them not getting home after 6 weeks
I am surprised I lasted about 2 years with them.
asking for another dispatcher is a pain they all talk to each other
and usually that hurts you when u make a switch and my both my dispatchers had the same supervisor he was tough to talk to

its funny you say that your not going to get a shower every day.
I got a shower pobably every 3rd or 4th day that was the only way
I could make a decent living with werner. I went through 4 trainers
and thats a joke and a half.I pretty much learned everything by myself

I was a team driver for them and it was tough went through 5 co driver
because never really got the miles we needed for teams

i have been driving for werner for over a year now.
i started out with a trainer for 300 hours. he had 2 yrs of experience and we got along great. still talk to him to this day.was done w training in lil over 6 weeks with a week at home in the middle.
what i can tell you as an advice with werner is that if you are not happy with something ,let them know. its the matter of who you talk to. if you dont like your trainer call your sdm and get a new one. if you dont like ur dispatch/not getting miles you want ,ask for your dispatch's supervisor and get assigned to a new board. nothing is gonna change if u complain to other drivers at a truck stop .
dont get me wrong there are annoying things about werner. like when u get out of training you have to wait a few days to get your own truck.
i started out w a junk t600 for 3 months then after that they sold it and they got me a brand new prostar which i am still driving.
did 48 for a year and had a good dispatcher (got 2000-2500)(sometimes 3000) miles consistently w 32 cpm. very rarely did i sit without a load. was making 600-700 after taxes and health insurance every week.
all of u crying that ur not getting miles should do something ab it. CHANGE UR Dispatcher!!!!
now i am working on staples dedicated in nj. drive nites. home friday morning to sunday nite +every day. working 40-45 hrs a week and getting a salary of 850 minimum/week.noooobody bothers me. get my #### done on time and safely.
all i am saying is if ur not happy tell ur dispatch. if dispatch is not changing things around, talk to his supervisor. werner is a huge company. if ur not letting the right ppl know when ur miserable .....ur gonna be miserable.
