Honestly, that is how I learned all of the shifting patterns for the different transmissions while I was in school...by watching YouTube vids. In school you had to double, but near the end they let me float when they found out I didn't need to go to the port for a skills test (Wyoming/Military thing). I very rarely use the clutch anymore other then starting and stopping. There are situations where you need to double/single clutch, then you just need to use what ever method you feel comfortable doing to get it smoothly into your next gear, regardless if it's a higher or lower gear.

Professional drivers keep both hands on the wheel after shifting.
FYI-Keep the greasy side down and the shiny side up.

I float almost always, but if im loaded HEAVY and in mud or snow ill double clutch the bottom side of the transmission, same thing if im pulling up a steep grade off road, Some old fellers beat it into my head that it's easier on your transmission that way.
