I have been with Melton for 15 months and have nothing bad to say about this company. I have always been
treated with respect. My Driver Manager is great and miles are there depending upon freight. I get home when I want to without any issues. I have read the bad comments about Melton and disagree with most. Yes log books are checked but only to protect the company. The equipment is great and the CEO of company is nothing less than a class act. He is caring and one intelligent business man. I would highly recommend this company. Rules are in place for a reason. Follow them and you will be find. Get your dispatch and arrive on time. Most of all stop the log book coloring. Run legal and do your pretrip. Arrive on time. I have no issues with safety because if I goof uop I tell the truth. If you are looking for a good company Melton is the place to be.

Flatbed trucking goes in cycles. Actually all trucking goes in cycles. It is slow then it is busy. You have to take the good with the bad. As long as your money totals on your W-4 at the end of the year are good that is all you can ask for in this business. The economy is so crappy anyways.....trucking hasnt been "great" for a few years now. I have been driving since 1997 and You used to be able to make good money, $50k $60k a year easy with most good companies if you were willing to stay out and run. I have made my fair share. But as in life, in trucking all things are a trade off. You cant be home every weekend and make $50k a year. If you do then God Bless ya, you are the exception and not the rule. But if you are going to stay out and run you gotta learn the freight lanes to be in, the time of the month that is best to run, and know the slow times of year and busy times of year for the commodities that you pull and be available to run during those times. I use this website to "check out" companies when I am looking for a job or looking to make a change. But most of what I see is drivers ######## and complaining about how some company did them wrong. Ya know if you have had 10 jobs in the last 3 or so years it might not be the company's fault. You may just be too difficult of a person. You might be the problem and maybe this job trucking OTR isnt for you. In my experience most companies are all the same. The only difference is the rate of pay and miles you gotta turn to make a living and the color of the truck.....if you have a low payrate expect to run alot more miles....if you get a high rate, you will not run that much. But in the end it is all the same. It is what you make out of it. If you got a good attitude you will be fine. If you have a bad attitude, you will always be mad and pissed off about something. Just make the best of it. And good luck with whatever company you choose.

I drove for Melton for awhile in 2010. I have nothing bad to say at all. There was a few things that I wasn't jumping up and down about, but I let it go. I have worked for a family friend's company (12 trucks) where my old man has driven for 32 years; high pay high miles and just as much crap as any company. Every company sucks in its own way.

Since my Melton experience was good I have to say it is a good company for ME. Everyone has an opinion and the only way to see if a company is any count is to sign on and get first hand knowledge and form your own opinion.

So, don't take my word for it. Go see for yourself. If it is that bad, give your notice and move on down the line. Good lick to every one out there and be safe.

When do they run your DAC report? Before or during orientation? I only ask because the company my husband is currently with has a bad rep for putting false info on DAC reports and he's already been offered employment with Melton. They seem like a good company but I don't want him to quit WEL and not get through orientation because something gets put on his DAC. No accidents, no problems, just a jerky company. 1000 miles/week for 2 weeks in a row now and getting home time with WEL is like pulling teeth. Just need some info on how Melton works and if they take DAC as 'law' or just something to go by.
