They screw you at payday! They charge you the $100 for the training! My husband is out with a trainer now and his pay check has been for $14 for the last month! So not only are we having to pay for his food and needs on the road while with a trainer. They charge you to be trained! Dirty deal!

they dont charge $100. you get $375 a week before taxes. he might be getting pay advances or he is getting the pay on his fuel card. have him check his pay stub or call pay roll or the training coordinator. the only problem i have had was when i went back out they took me of the truck in the computer and they fixed it right away.

Hello good people! I hope everyone is well and and your wheels are turning in order to make money. I'm a newbie at trucking and am hoping to be at a Western Express orientation on 2/27/2012. Ive been in touch with them since Mon 2/13, at which time they offered to send me a bus ticket just two days later!! As much as I wish I could've just packed my bags right then there, and slept at the bus station until the bus driver arrived in 2 days, I did not, as I decided to be courteous and professional by giving my pos paying, part-time job at least a weeks notice. Now when I contacted my recruiter to tell them to forgo the bus ticket until a week later, she (who is a very helpful and pleasant person) said that she had no problem sending my bus ticket next Wednesday (which is two days from today) and that I should give her a call Monday (which of course is today) just to confirm, which I did early this morning. Now i was feeling a little nervous about putting in notice at a job that i had been at nearly two years all on the word of a recruiter, as i have heard plenty of stories about people who had gone to orientation, been assigned a truck and pick up ther first load, only to be called back to the terminal for something the company failed to find during the hiring process. What do i have to be worried about, you ask? I have a few speeding tickets in the last three and have been struggling to gain employment in this industry because of that. Call me what you want, say what you want, I don't really care. So i called her back the next day and asked her to scrutinize my app and backround to make sure i dont end up jn the aforementioned situation. She did, and assured that as long as I dont have drugs in my system (I don't) and I didn't leave anything out of my app (I didn't) that I had nothing to worry about and reminded me to give her a call Monday (today) morning. When I called this morning she said she would contact me Thursday about the bus ticket and send me an email about what I should bring to the orientation. Thursday??? Why Thursday? For two weeks it was Wednesday and now all of sudden its Thursday. Does anybody else think that Thursdays is a little to late to calling someone about a bust that leaves 3 days later? What if I didn't know what to bring to orientation? (I do, thanks to this forum). Does that mean that I expected to go out and buy this stuff on such short notice. I'm worried because I have been dissapointed by trucking companies in the past and vowed to never get my hopes up again. But this is as close as ive ever been and suffice it to say, I'm anxious and my hopes are up, especially now that ive put in notice at mycurrent job and have turned down at least three other local offers of employment for thc s one. Anybody else been in or are currently kn this situation. Thanks on advance for any advice.

As long as you put the tickets in the app as long as they are not 15 over the limit youll be fine. The pay is not great but its a good starting point. I had 2 tickets 1 speeding and one driving a commercial in a residental gotta love NYC. I dont even know if they are on my driving record because they were not there when I applied. And yes just be honest, and dont mind all the nay sayers as long as you run and run legal for them you should not have a problem. If you have a problem call the safty dept or head of dispatch. good luck and keep on trucking

Thanks Dweedle and Sammy! A sigh of relief after reading your posts, I must say. I guess i'm just anxious and nervous both as a newbie and as a guy who has 3 moving tickets looming in the back of his mind all the time. I spoke to my recruiter today and she told me that the people who handle the bus tickets are "slow on wednesday". She assured me that I'd receive an email with the bus ticket and orientation later in the day. Surprise, surprise. . . I didnt receive it. Instead I received an email stating that she wasnt able to get the bus ticket today but will have it first thing in the morning. Hopefully tomorrow will be the day.
@dweedle: Ive heard that western runs alot of nyc. Thats where im originally from, so I shouldnt get lost or anything. Im just worried about them tight turns:biggrin_25521:
@sammy: Ive heard some polarizing opinions about the comfort inn there. Some say its the best hotel there and some say (reviews on the internet) its a dump. Any ideas?
Thaks again guys and keep those wheels turnin!
