I'm thinking about applying for employment, how many days you work in a row, and can you make over $50,000 easily, thanks.

Gemini Motor Transport is a good company. Their benefits are awesome, the pay is awesome. However, one of their recruiters, or whoever you call them, is not.

Last Friday I received a phone call from (lets use his initials, JS). He told me about the job and how challenging it could be for me, but it would work. I graduated truck school last year in December. I am fairly new to the trucking industry and had only a few weeks experience doing OTR. He knew this and it didn't seem to bother him at all. I was honest with him and told him I was on a Leave of Absence due to having fatigue and dizziness. I voluntarily put myself on LOA so I can go to the doctor to see what was wrong. It turns out I am okay, got a medical clearance from my doctor. He totally understood, saying he's a trucker and he understands it happens. It was a new experience for me. I thought by some divine miracle I could get a local job with no experience (haha I look stupid now). He was cool with it. So he tells me after we get off the phone he will send me the application. I check my email about 5 minutes later, nothing, nothing, nothing. 3 hours later he finally sends it to me. I should've seen that as a red flag, but I just thought he was busy. Which he very well could've been. I fill it out and fax it the same day. So now I wait...

Nothing from Friday, Nothing on Monday. I email him to make sure he got my application today on Tuesday. He emails back saying he did but that he's got more qualified applicants and that I should try an entry level job before applying with Love's. Since I don't believe in being rude to a person who just let me down in the "nicest" way he could, this is what I wanted to say: "NEXT TIME PUT ON YOUR AD YOU ARE SEEKING QUALIFIED, EXPERIENCED DRIVERS!" Don't say you hire new grads when you really don't, or very rarely do. Ridiculous. Now I have to call my job and let them know I am ready to go back. I have to wait for someone to be routed to me, which could take a week. I blame no one but myself. I should've went back on the road when I was first called back.

Anyway, like I said. Good company, awesome benefits. I give the company a 5, and JS a 2. I didn't give him a 1 because he was nice. My advice to new grads: don't waste your time applying to Love's with no experience. Just like JS told me (and what should have been in the ad in the first place) get experience first and then apply. I'm telling you right now so your time won't be wasted like mine was.

Gemini is hiring in Missouri... I am moving to MO and can go whenever I want... I am starting to hard core look at jobs now. I keep reading that their pay and benefits are very good. Can someone elaborate? Just trying to do as much homework as I can. I have 14 years experience driving, no tankers though. I have one unpreventable, non chargeable on my record that will be 3 years old in February. I have LTL, chemical, and hazardous waste experience, both local and long distance.

Some regions they will hire recent graduates, it just depends on the driver pool when you apply. I contacted the guy in my region and was told the same as you. Drivers are more in demand out west from what I gather.

Why would you wait to go back to your current job when your application had not even been reviewed yet? Sounds like the guy was honest and up front with you in my opinion. We all have to pay our dues to get where we want to be!

I heard it night shift to start off with? How long would you have to work nights, until days would come up? How much realistically could a new driver expect to make? Load Pay correct?
