I am wife of a soon to be trucker. I am helping him gather information on different companies. I have been reading here about how good ROEHL is and he said he read a post somewhere that says they do not pay well at all during training. Can anyone shed some light on that? Thanks

JRS training pay is low 60-65 per day. You can't book that hawian getaway on training money. My advice is do not compare starting pay so much but rather look at the one year of experience pay. Many companies only raise pay .01 per mile after a year while other give more. Roehl bumps up .04 after a year. At 120,000 miles a penny is worth 1,200.00 dollars which adds up. Hope that helps some.

Thanks Mo for the info on starting pay vs overall pay after a year. My husband is thinking about applying at ROEHL when he finishes CDL school in a couple months. He cant get into the local CDL School for at least a month. Any other companies that are good to work for out there please let us know.
Thanks

I'm in the same boat as your husband, I just finished CDL training with a school in Jackson, Mich. and have been on the hunt for a good company. So far I like what I see about Roehl, there seems to be no getting around the pay issue during orientation and training but from what I've seen visiting websites and calling various companies is that you will get a decent amount of training before you get tossed into a truck and hit the road with Roehl, also the training is segmented so that you get a little hometime. One company I talked to would have had me out of the house for seven weeks before I was assigned a truck and got to see my wife and home again. That would be like going to basic training again (I'm former USAF). Check out the results for the polls that the experience drivers fill out on the various companies, I found them to be very informative.
Good Luck

You should check into Roehls' RDTC school. I think the cost is better than most.
As for training pay, I believe 60-65 a day is pretty reasonable and very competitive. Roehl trains drivers rather than tossing them in a truck to team drive and the vast majority of the trainers are well established professionals.
Best of luck
