Hi all,
I have a 2009 T 660 Kenworth CAT engine that has given me a lot of trouble with the regeneration system. Over the last two years, I believe the ard head (something like that) has been replaced 3 times. The last time was two months ago, of which Kenworth replaced spark plug, filter and ard head.
Two days ago, the DPF status indicator light started to come on again. I have tried to regen the system but it either will not start or only regen for 3 min, then turn off.
Everytime this truck ends up at Kenworth because of this problem, no one can answer question they just continue to change out parts.
Any feed back would be appreciated.

chances are you are getting a failure to ignite code. Do we have spark? An asvt needs to be ran with a datalog see how the air management system is doing. are we flowing ard combustion air, cgi flow with in range, ect. Then run a regen with a datalog and check pilot and main fuel pressures. Do we have a rolled o-ring on the fuel enable valve causing fuel pressure to be all jacked up.
These cats are temperamental. watching and looking at datalog and knowing what they mean are key to fixing the problems. Throwing parts isnt going to help. Very few people can look at the datalogs and see whats going on with the system.lydialonghaul Thanks this. -
Kenworth people are not helping??
There might be trouble with any electronic board, get replace the pcb of regenration system. that will work if there is error!!lydialonghaul Thanks this. -
Take it to an actual CAT dealer.
lydialonghaul Thanks this. -
The truck went to a cat dealer once, in Mississippi, but they cleaned the system, refused to honor warranty because Travel America put on wrong fuel filter. They handed us the bill and sent us on our merry way, only to be broken down again, the next day in Salina, KS.
Unfortunately, everytime the DPF and check engine light comes on, engine starts to derate, we then are at the mercy of the closest mechanic that can fix the problem. -
So, when Kenworth places there computer on the system to pull codes and/ or get data, can this information be printed out and given to drivers, maybe I could take it to CAT dealer for a second opinion??? -
Ya if your not using fleet guard or cat filters on your fuel system dont expect to get warranty.lydialonghaul and sculptor Thank this. -
I had the same exact problem my Kenworth is a 2008, would only regen for 3 min and ask for it again. Every shop kept changing the same parts you mentioned everytime, only to go out to work and break down again.
Someone recomended me to take it to a peterbilt rush so I did and they replaced the harness-exhaust and also did a manual regen. Since then the truck has been running for 3 weeks with no breakdowns.
Hope my info helps! -
kenworth don't know #### ! I've taken my truck in for small repairs and they just don't know crap. look for a mechanic that specializes on that DPF. may be a programing issue

Hey driver I have a 2009 T660 that had many regen issues. When the company I'm leased to turned my truck speed up to 73mph. I haven't had any more problems with the regen. That was a year ago and it's been running great since! Hope this was of some help. Oh yeah I have a C15 cat.
